What industries accept wheat/grain?

Well after three failed attempts at completing the wheat campaign objectives in the Marias pass approach route(crashed into a westbound consist again at the Shelby yard while trying to shunt my way to the approriate siding). I've given up trying to finish this route & just went back to work on my own custom route but face a problem.

I added a couple of grain elevators off to the side & then it hit me....where do you unload the grain at?I don't want to simply keep driving the route with a full load of grain but can't seem to find any industries in surveyor that accept this commodity for unload. Is grain to be classified as "general goods" or not?

I'm creating this route in TSR2006 & could really use some help thanks.

There are collection elevators, which accept grain from smaller elevators. There are transloading facilities, where grain is moved from train to either truck or boat. There are feed mills. There are flour mills.

Open Marias pass approach and use the get content button on the grain elevators.

if that doesn't work then use a multiple industry

OK so I should place one of the industries that has the trucks on it? all it shows on properties are truck/trailer icons but no wheat icon under commodities however.

You can also place a Portal and say the loaded train goes to another part of the system you didn't model or another railroad not modeled. Just send the loaded train into the Portal's black hole where it will be teleported to the Empire who can use it to feed the Stormtroopers as they attack the Rebel scum!
...
Whoops, sorry, too much Empire at War.:hehe:

Hi Mike --

" ... where do you unload the grain at?"

On the Download Station there are a number of interactive sections of track called "Basic Industries". These will load and unload groups of commodities.

Do a search using "BI2" (short for Basic Industry 2 - there is also an earlier BI1 series). Make sure TRS2004 is included in the search.

From memory one is for grain products.

Then add appropriate grain handling structures, for example:

Mike a little tip for a beginners start a new route name it Industry then open object, on the bottom row where it say ALL click till you get to industry. Click on each one and put it on the board make a note of what it is for a grain elevator put in one cornor and if the next is a coal mine put it in another corner seperate them so they will be easer to find. make a note of what it dose/ suplies coal, lumber, grain, cantainers, woodchips.
YES this take a lot of time but it will pay off years down the road. You can also marge this with any route so fining thing while working on your route will be easer.
Then when you are done building your route (ha ha) you can just delete it.
Seeing it when you put it on the industry route will help a grate deal later.
you don't have to do this all in one Day/night.

I've given up on trying to import anything into the game a long time ago since DLS,CMP & even downloads from fansites can't seem to be imported.

I guess I'll just go the portal route instead.

Mike, Sorry to hear about your download problems. This should not be the case. I am also using 2006 and all of my downloads are quick and smooth regardless of the source. Do you have 2006 options set up to use OpenGL? OpenGL seems to be essential for CMP to work properly.

Easy method for making a list of what commodities go with what:
Open CMP/CM2
Set Search to Category - Commodity, Location - Local
Right click a commodity and select View Dependent Assets
Select View in main list
Right click and pick select all
Right click and select Copy items to Clipboard
Paste to your favorite word processor.

Hi Mike. I know what the problem is. Your problem is this: The grain silo on the side of the yard near U.S. Route 2 will unload grain. That probably is the only facility on the route that unloads the grain. When you are heading into Shelby yard if I'm remembering correctly you're on the wrong track. You have to be on the eastbound track. Your track is on the east side of the yard. Not the west side. The west side is where Shelby Intermodal is. In surveyor start to enter silo. Enter it where you find railroad crossings. It's a static building it can't be stretched, it can only be moved. However, you can drag to the tracks if you already have some. I hope I helped make this clear. *Chessie, PRR, BNSF and CR ROCK!* I know because I've done the mission hundreds of times and have passed it, even on my first time with Trainz: Driver.

Thanks but I know that the Marias approach doesn't involve actually delivering the load to an unload point.I was just looking for an industry that accepts this commodity when considering adding it to a custom route in the future.

I ran the route again & wouldn't you just know it....I finally make it in one piece to make the switch from Josef's to Bald's consist to head north to sweetgrass but set the junction incorrectly & derailed, looks like I've gotta make another attempt at completing it yet again.

The faciity by U.S. Route 2 unloads grain. Did you throw the switch against your BN train after you entered the track you were supposed to take. and check the switches? If you have them invisible, go to the top of the screen and then that pop up occurs and click on the question mark which will make all the points visible and check them to make sure they a alaigned from your CN train. I hope this helps.

No,they're visible...I just set it incorrectly because I wasn't sure if it was set right to begin with since I was running the train in manual mode.

Sometimes turnouts can seem confusing as to their direction of travel & you sometimes have to set a switch to the left if you want to transfer to a track on your right & vice versa.

In a mission the switches are generally automatically set for you. So if you're driving another train. You just have to throw the switch that you're previous train entered.

Next time I run the route I'll make sure to just pass through the sweetgrass junction without throwing the switch.
