What hardware do you run TS on?

My computer (laptop) specifications

I use TRS2004. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop (an obsolete model, but we have still kept it under warranty, and fortunately so, from the two motherboard replacements that have had to be done! :p ;)), that we got in late 2007. Its current specifications are (most information copied and modified from a DxDiag report that I just made):

System information:
  • Operating system: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (32-bit) Service Pack 2
  • Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 (2 CPUs), ~1.8GHz
  • Memory: 894MB RAM (although it was probably advertised as 1 gigabyte of RAM memory. ;) :p)
  • DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Display devices:
  • Card name: ATI Radeon X1270
  • Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
  • Chip type: ATI Radeon X1200 Series (0x791F)
  • DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
  • Display Memory: 382 MB
  • Dedicated Memory: 191 MB
  • Shared Memory: 191 MB
  • Current Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (59Hz)
TRS2004 runs fairly well on this setup, although a fairly-dense layout will cause it to slow down. I know, you are probably staring at that wimpy memory specification of 894 megabytes (likely advertised as 1 gigabyte), but I am planning to upgrade it in the future. How would Trainz run with, say, 2 gigabytes? Maybe 4 gigabytes? ;)

Regards.

Great, thanks. ;) On the other hand, how would TS2010 work on my computer if I upgraded its memory to either 2 or 4 gigabytes?

Regards.
Well, 2GB is the minimum reccomended amount of RAM for 2010:EE in Vista/7, though I'm still yet to test it on this system of mine with 8GB RAM total (currently about 2.6 of that is used by various programs I've got open, TF2 seems to suffer no ill effects so far, and that usually chews up to a gig at times, depending on the run time).

If that was a 2333 FSB I'd be lovin' it! :p

Seriously, your system is good. I've used 680i-based boards quite a bit. They're good for low-cost RAID.

It is, yeah yeah.

One of them big shot intel guys owed me a favor so I got one of their newest not released yet chips (on the sly so don't tell anyone).

I know all the computer big shots from my days working in the counter corporate espionage business.

I can't go into too much detail on an open forum though.:p
