What are these white circles ?

Hi All
I have noticed on a few different layouts white circles like spline points, I can't find them by using the find object button but I can move them when in the Track option, so they are obviously some sort of invisible track ??
The problem ( and its a very annoying one ) is that if I put new track across them by accident the game crashes straight away but worse it deletes the asset file, so I have to wait 30mins for it to rebuild.
I'm playing around with the Sudety layouts at the moment and the game has crashed 11 times in 2 days and I'm getting tired of it.
Can someone ( maybe a creator ) tell me the following :
A... What exactly are they.?
B....What function do they have ?
C....Can I delete them ( is it one kuid No for them all ) ?
Please please help this frustrated Trainzer !!!!
Cheers

Yes, they are spline points - use the track tool to connect other tracks to them , move them, or remove the piece of track- unfortunately you can't remove them without deleting the piece of track (AFAIK).

The function of them is to show where the connections between pieces of track are and where to connect other pieces of tracks (or industries, if you move the white circle (and hence the track) onto the white (or yellow/orange) circle at the industry.

Hi Shane thanks for reply, although I'm not quite with you, these circles are not on the track they are either beside them or in many instances a long way away from any track ( i'm talking up to half a board away ) and why do they crash my game if I touch them with a piece of track ?

Sounds like a Trainz bug to me - I get strange things like that happen (they are like artefacts (or possibly underground track)) and as a result they are not actually there hence the crash (might be graphics card related)

Shane

Computer specs and trainz version would help if you post them. That way things may be a little more clear as to where the problem could be.

Have you tried F9 in Surveyor to check what might be lying under the baseboard?

Also in Surveyor try clicking the "Get track" button (the one with the horseshoey thingy on it) and then click your cursor over one of the offending splines. This should throw up the spline description in the top of the description panel.

By your description I presume they're not track, but scenery splines. Fences, walls and such. Sudety is a polish route with lots of objects not on the DLS, so do you have many missing kuids? To solve this without downloading all that's missing from all over eastern europe, choose delete missing kuids in the surveyor menu and save the route under another name. As soon as you've found all that's missing you can use the original again.

My Spec is 9200 duo core 2.4ghz
Memory 4096mb
Hard drive 640gb raid 0 ( free space 67% )
Graphics card 768mb nvidia geforce 8800 gtx
TRS2006sp1
hope this helps

They only move when I'm on the " track " folder, they are not " objects ". I always " delete missing assets " I can move them but not get there kuid No when I click on " get object "
There are hundreds of them and if when I move them one crosses another the game crashes, also crashes if track goes across them.
I know how to find objects and delete them but without a kuid No I don't know what to delete ?
Surely someone else has noticed these on a layout.
Although I'm not good with computers generally I well versed in the basics + a bit when it comes to trainz so all the basic stuff your syggesting I've tried and now I need someone who has built a layout and knows what they are for ?
If your interested the layout is " Projekt Sudety Jesien 76 CZ "
So if you want to see them first hand they are besides every bit of track, its only 4mb

Try This

Hi

Switch to "Wireframe" mode, inner most button top left in Surveyor, and see if it's something buried.

Try the "Get" tool in the spline and Rail flyouts to see if it recognises anything.

Next try the "Spline Height Adjustment" tool in both Rail and Spline flyouts. Raise them, if you can, to get a better look at what you are dealing with.

Do they appear in Driver?

Next try several measures of scotch which won't cure it but you'll be more relaxed about the crashes. (Only if you are over 18!):hehe:

Can you delete them? If so, what goes missing? You can't delete in track? Try deleting in object or splines. Use a line in trainzoptions: =Showkuid With this, when you click on an item, it shows in the lower right corner the KUID of that item. I had them at the base of overhead poles for catenary, many of them. Deleting the pole, would leave the circles, and then I had to delete them one by one after moving them away from the cluster. Try to "connect" a spline or track to the offending circle, and then try to delete all. We all learn by trying and banging our heads against the wall!

PJ,
Have had the same recently, white spline points on track when we know they should be yellow ish.

I seem to have cured this. It was because the route/session was dependant on another and I had added track to the newer one but not the original. This was a 2006 sp1 route I've moved into 2010.
I ended up altering the original and creating a new route. For eg bla bla SP1, for new route read Bla Bla SP2.
I could delete the track and the splines with them, replace the track but place a spur and the white spline points came back.
I was confused for 2-3 days wondering what was going on.
If you still end up struggling e-mail vendel to ask if he's had any problems with it.

Yeah I have show kuid on, but nothing in any catagory shows what they are, as I've already said in my first post.

Fran these are not on the tracks they are nearby or far away but not on, theey do not appear to be anything to do with the track I can see as if I delete the track/change for another etc they still remain. also did your game crash if you put something across them ? if not, its not the same problem.

I've also tried changing name of layout
As I said before I need deep knowledge all the usual stuff I know about and have tried but to no avail

No I didn't crash the game so it's a different thing. Try lowering the ground level on 1 that's out of the way to see what might be buried. Use the undo button after if nothing is found.
Do you remember the other time? Wonder if there is a similarity.

PJ,
Just had a look on the DLS at this route. The CZ one is 3.92mb, the PL one is 16 mb. I would think the first is reliant on the second.

They are indepentant routes and although sound similar in reality they are not, all the Sudety routes are stand alone but can be joined if required.
Case in point now, I can't ignore it, I've just tried to lay a new platform spline, it touches these circles so the game has just now crashed !!!!
I think the only way anyone can fully understand this problem is to download the route and look at it yourself, in fact if somebody did that and the game worked fine then its something at my end.
So far I've already tried every suggestion you guys have made but sadly to no avail.
Cheers

Hi,

First thing You need to do is screen the thing. Bring us some screens from the place You found this issue. This is a major way to find the bug. It might be something with the TRS version though, I use 2006 and have no problems of this sort.

Usually problems like this occur when a specific add-on is either damaged, not-installed or something else. In this case the tracks I guess. I used only the FMA tracks, and they are all in one pack via www.trainz.pl or my big map pack.

Hi
I've got all the tracks from trainz pl and vendels etc, The issue is over the whole route, wherever you see the circles, they are besides every bit of track, you can move them but not put anything across them.
I do not know how to put a screenshot on here.
They are some kind of track spline but there are 1000s of them surrounding the visible tracks.
Can you see them on your conputer ? and what happens if you lay track across them does your game crash ?
Cheers
PJ

Hi Joachim
Yes I know they are different spline points but if your read all my posts you will see what my problem is, ie in a nutshell, I cannot identify them, therefore cannot delete them and they cause the game to crash
Cheers
