What are some of the best layouts in trainz?

Thanks

That would be in the eyes of the beholder. Everyone will have their own definition of "best" and everyone will also have a different opinion as to what is the best layout.

You are quite right! Nevertheless it would be nice to see à layout with the latest content in action on the the map!!

One of the great things about Trainz is that anyone can create their own best route with all of the features they want in it. Now just because you have a paint brush and some paint doesn't make you a Rembrandt so there will always be those who can create truly great layouts. So let your inner creator loose and see your comes out.
There are other train games that do only that - you drive what they decide and go where they decide, it's all baked in with little chance to do your own thing.

Routes provide the hardware. Sessions provide the "software". It is the sessions that decide where you go and what you do.

Some creators only build routes and provide you with only the layouts and scenery. Some also build sessions with directed objectives ("drive here, load/unload that" etc).

A growing number of sessions are appearing that are variously described as "Free Roam" or "Quick Drive" where all the consists are in place and the industries fully configured but you decide where to drive and what to do.

But as pointed out above, your preferences will decide what is the "best" layout with the best "action".

Me, I prefer Australian narrow gauge steam era routes and action. Driving a long double stacked container freight with triple diesels is, to me at least, boring.

What version of Trainz are you running? What era are you keen on? What region do you prefer? (Payware of Freeware)? Size, small, medium or large routes/layouts. Little or a lot of session action. (Freight, passenger or both action). What's the spec's of your computer? High, middle or low spec'ed???

Just some of the things that might be needed for someone to recommend a particular route/s & sessions...

Please give us some more details about what you have & what your looking for and someone might be able to steer you in the right direction better.

Maybe a good start for you might be to look at some of "Philskene" layouts on the DLS. Well detailed, some Session action, different era's, covering from Tane upwards. All content on the DLS. etc, etc...

I'm also looking for recommendations for large, detailed, SG or NG36 freeware route/s with session/s that have lots of active trains running, (preferably with freight action, loading/unloading, etc) any era, any region. Tane, TS2019PE or TS2022PE. (I'm running the "near latest" high end gaming computer with a 4090 video card).

Foot note; I occasionally read or hear about Trainzers that are running sessions with 10, 20, 30 or even 50 active Trainz. Those sorts of routes/sessions very much interest me!!!
So please, make some suggestions that may help both the original poster, (& myself). Many thanks...

Cheers, Mac...

Some of the best layouts in Trainz include the Settle-Carlisle Line for its realistic terrain and operations, the London to Brighton Route for its historic charm, and the Great Northern Railway for a scenic, fictional experience. Portland Terminal is great for freight-focused gameplay, while the Isle of Wight offers a classic steam train experience.
