I purchased a digital download of 2010 saturday, downloaded all 3 files. The setup file on the first download was corrupt and ever since then although the full setup file downloads the icon is just a white square and upon open it, it fails to open saying unknown file select a programme to open with! Any suggestions please as getting frustrated downloading. Thanks for any help.

Try turning off you anti virus, also make sure install shield is not corrupted. You may need to uninstall it then re install the install shield program.

Hope this helps,

Cheers, William

Sorry for sounding dumb but whats the install shield, the file out of the three downloaded is called ts 2010:ee setup thanks for help

If you haven't tried rebooting yet, first thing is to click the Start button (lower left corner of the desktop), Turn Off Computer, and select Restart. After Windows reloads try running it again.

Ok done that just the same, will try another download. The stupid thing is the 1st download I did yesterday was fine apart from being corrupted. I personally don't like digital downloading ah well try again, Anyway thanks for your advice

Please check and see if the extension of the file is .RAR - When I downloaded my purchase, it too only had a white icon. If you do not have a program that recognizes RAR files, then this would make sense that you would be asked what program you want to use. I use 7-zip. It can "unzip" many types of compressed files. www.7-zip.org is where you can get a copy. As for the corruption... well that just happens sometimes. Don't know if this is the problem, but it sounds like it to me. Good luck.

The problem seems to stem from an overzealous security check by Internet Explorer 9 and possibly other browsers, which does not trust the downloaded file and removes the extension, Norton, however, sees the file as safe. I pointed this out in a few other posts on the topic and Shane has added my observations to his blog.

IM guessing its just the wrong extension type, as Shane said. WHen I bought my Trainz on Saturday the extension was .part one [1] so I just changed it to .exe and then it used the .rar icon and became a self extracting file. It was the first setup file out of the 4 trainz files that Trains12 comes with. That fixed it and it installed perfectly.

There was a recent IE update for IE8 and IE9 around the 22nd, wonder if that may have caused the problem?
