Western Pacific GP7/9?

I have noticed many re-skins of the GP7/9 for various railroads over the last year or two so I figured it was just a matter of time until a Western Pacific version was done. Alas, none.:(
Please, re-skin high hood in silver and orange or all orange. TS2009 friendly.
GP7s were numbered 701 - 713. GP9s were 725 - 732.

Have you tried to re-paint?

No guarantee but I'm fairly good at re-paint
As one re-painter posted:

Please note that this reskin may not be completely accurate due to
railroad-specific details of this locomotive not being on the original mesh.
I have attempted to create as close of an accurate skin as I can.

I'm still learning my way around. Paint Shop Pro 8.1
So far I use about 5 or 6 tools.

Hi xcrossi,

I managed Paint Shed after much trial and error. Painted GP40/35 in all Orange and Pearlman Green, sort of. Tried getting the hang of Gimp. Total wipe out.
Not sure what you meant by "chevron wraparound".
I prefer the black striped ends. I think the all orange also had black "safety" stripe ends.
I don't much care if the headlight, bell, horns and such details are right.

Even though the Jointed Rail group made some GP7s, I'll be watching your progress on this thread. SuperFudd, I enjoy Western Pacific also.

Ok Ill give it a try.
Do do you if JR has a blank freeware (better detail)
If not I'v been checking out Paintshed repaints (EZer)
Do you have a preference of author (Most are PaintShed)

Project Western website has a nice GP-9 as Freeware.

...nice images of the freeware, see if you can find a link to actually acquire any of the GP-9... and share here. That would be impressive... and save SuperFudd the hassle.

JR did not do a 100% accurate job to the WP GP7's but INSTEAD did the museum variant. The real WP GP7's did not have ditchlights, and I think it would be cool if they came in more than one number. Just saying.

They did make WP 713, no ditchlights, and SN 712 and 711, again no ditchlights. Those can be skinned. WP 713 would be a good start.

Museum variant? I cannot speak for all the remaining WP equipment, but we certainly don't have any ditch lights on 713 down here at Niles. As far as we have been told there, the WP museum only slaps them on when they are doing mainline running events (rarely), like that trip to the bay to help haul equipment for the GGRRM to Niles and Sac back in 05. After that they were promptly removed from 707. Hardly what I would call a "Museum variant."
