West Coast railway out of puff

Likewise, in the US, the East Broad Top Railroad ceased operations all throughout 2012, and operations might be curtailed indefinately (although some slight glimmer of hope remains for 2013 negotiations).

I really don't know how tourist RR's make ends meet, with astronomical insurance costs, and repairs.
 
Well, everytime the weather gets seriously nasty, I don't just worry about the people, I worry about the Heritage railways/railroads as well. When the floods hit Wales, I was worried about the Ffestiniog to Porthmadog railway, as well as the WHR...the people who run those railways must also worry about the cost of repairing damaged track.. sometimes the cost is too high, and donations don't go far enough to keep the railway running.
