Were older versions of Trainz better than the modern versions?

No earlier versions of Trainz had a completely different Content Manager software. Apparently it was developed by a 3rd party company & N3V didn't want to keep paying for the license so that's how we ended up with the one we have now. They both of their pros & cons; but the old software was definitely easier for a beginner to use.

I have very vague recollections of the older version of Content Manager but the newer version is vastly superior in the information and features it provides which is probably why I have no real memories of the older version.

The information that we seek in the new Content Manager was there in TS2010 and TS12. The new one found in T:ANE and up is more versatile with the separate window capabilities and all inclusive interface.

I think the old one was more new-user friendly, whereas the current one is more set up for experienced users.

I old version of content manager gave you a list of all the dependences of the item you wanted to download. You could then look at how many items you would need to search on the internet. If to many you could just skip the download. Little nitpicking, when you wanted to add an additional option to search you didn't have to move the mouse to the other side of the screen.

I said once before that there should be two different modes for Trainz users, a basic mode and an advanced mode. The basic mode enables Classic Surveyor by default and has preset driver commands above and beyond what the default is. The advanced mode is what we have now with everything enabled.
