Water for Trainz...?

Thanks for the link llebrez but I'm not entirely sure that the Auran Jet engine could handle this... :P

Maybe when Jet 2.0 arrives they could include it... It certainly looks amazing. :D

Translation (Google)Nvidia has shown a new technology for the rendering of fluid elements with which it achieves extremely realistic results and that, presumably, would be the trend in new generation games-at least, those who make more intensive use of liquid items for any reason.

The demo was presented in three videos, and is based on the "dynamics based on the position," English called Position-Based Dynamics, and to render these streaming video used a single GTX 580.

Then we leave you with these three videos for you to see the potential of this technology framed within the Nvidia PhysX

I see your point.

However, the fluid motion would also be dependant on the limitations of the engine that it was running in.
The Auran Jet engine, as old as it is, would unlikely be able to deal with this. Unless I am proven wrong upon which time I would happily redact my statement.

Open task manager and watch CPU usage as the videos play. I have a dual core and it's using from 8-30%. Ouch. Beautiful though!

Well they said that speedtrees would never work....... And they were right!!!
I feel that the physics of this thing, would not stand a cat in hells chance, of working on the auran jet engine, unless you like playing trainz at one frame per second, if that!!!
We would not need the water to wash in and out, as all the landscape would be doing alll of that in any case.

Which is why I suggested Jet 2.0 as a possibility...

However, Speedtrees CAN work, but only if its done right. Most people just place it down and expect it to work straight up...

Do you honestly think that there will be a jet 2?
We needed one back in trainz 2009!!!

Wow, that's incredible. I'm sure it consumes a good amount of processing power, though; computers will probably need to get a bit more powerful before Trainz, with all the load on the computer that it already places, could have eye candy like this implemented and still have great frame rates.

When I say Jet 2.0, I'm pretty much opening it up to any sort of engine name. I don't doubt that N3V will eventually reach the point where there is consensus in needing a new version of Trainz...
