Water effect layer

Hi,

Just upgraded the water to the new water effect layer, but I have two issues:
1. How do I change the water color? The Environment settings that I previously used do not apply to the new water, only to the legacy water, so changing the color there has no effect.
2. Can I change the height of the new water layer to be a specific value, let's say -100m and just use the tools to bring it up where needed instead of being at default 0m and needing adjusting everywhere on the route?

Thanks,
Mihai

The Wiki page is dated (its last update) November 2021. The Trainz Simulator page is dated (its last update) March 2023.

Beyond that I do not know.

EDIT: The Trainz Plus beta has just been updated. The announcement post includes the following:-

Change log from 121380 to 121880:

  • Water Effect Layer
    • Option to set Water Effect Layer color can be found in the Advanced Options of the Effect Layer
    • Multiple Water Effect Layers can be used, each with their own assigned colour.

EDIT 2: I just tried changing the Water Effect Layer colour and it worked. In S20 you right mouse click on the required Water Effect Layer (you can now have several) in the Layers Palette then select the "Edit Effect Layer" option, open up the Advanced Tools section (click the little "Right Arrow" button next to the Disk icon) and enter RGB values from 0.000 to 1.000 in the appropriate places.

That's great news! I'm not a beta tester nor a Trainz Plus user, but hope that the update will reach Trainz 22 soon as well.

So with S2.0 the water is on a separate layer from the route. Is only one water layer required or is a separate water layer needed for each water instance on the route?

At the basic level you can have a single water layer, with the one set colour, that covers the entire route. This layer can be raised and lowered in different places as needed and can even have a slope.

The latest Trainz Plus beta version adds the ability to have multiple water layers each with their own colour.
