Vista/nVidia 880 GTX video card

There is a Microsoft hot fix for Vista for video cards that have more than 2 Mbs of memory especially applicable to the GTX.

...John, do you have the "hot fix" specs for this issue. I have had some problems (not with Trainz) but other games crashing to desktop and am baffled by this - Vista Premium 32 bit - is my system. These 'crashes' occur after the game has been playing for a short time and always with the same message. I have one of the tech support people on it for one of the games in question but as of this writing nothing has been resolved.

Thanks,

Roy

Hi

I had problems with TRS 2006 (CMP) on my computer and i had Vista and i looked for my Driver on the nVidia website for the driver of my FX Series and found a new driver that has just been released this year that works on Vista and worked for me, the driver was ForceWare 95 thats for me.

i had a look for 8800 GTX on the website and found for 32 bit Vista the ForceWare Release 163 (Released 18 September 2007)
and for 64 bit it was the same driver

you can have a look at: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

I tried the 163 driver and the results were really poor. I'll wait another revision before I try them again. What I have seems to work okay, and I'm not breaking it with a new version of tbe driver.

I am just starting to use a new Dell Dimension DXP061 computer with an nVidia 8800 GTX video card so don't have much experience with the controls.

My nVidia Control Panel maks no reference to sharpness control. The only thing that comes close is -3D Settings/Manage 3D Settings/Global Settings/TexTure Filtering-Quality/High QualityQuality/Performance/High Performance. Don't know if this will have any effect on what you are seeking.

All in all trying to learn how to use this video card is quite daunting, further complicated with trying to figure out how to run VISTA which is a nightmare in itself.

Cheers.

.....thanks John for the quick response. I tried to download it but it indicated that it "does not apply to my system". I will assume that to mean that I don't need it? Would you agree?

Roy

No it probably means there is another one out there. If you are running 32 bit Vista have a dig with google, the problem is known and solutions are starting to come out.
