Virtual Railroad Operating Sessions

I am looking for people who would be interested in joining a "virtual" railroad of sorts with a custom route that I am currently working on. I plan on launching a website dedicated to this operation in the near future but wanted to see how much interest there would be.

Trainz 12 multiplayer would be used. A basic example of how it would work:
There would be multiple railroads each having their own network and connecting with the other railroads on the map. They would operate one their own but would need to work hand in hand with the others. i.e. transfer of freight cars, trackage rights, etc. I've decided to go with a fallen flag theme but not year or time specific. This would basically be a group of "virtual railroads" that are able to operate on the same map. If anyone is interested or wants more info email me at fisher6@rocketmail.com

cool deal.. i may want to join,,,and i think danny5 would join,,,,dropme a pm and we can trade e-mail abouts this

If your looking for a more realistic experience with multiplayer, then you should check out VRMA, Virtual Railroaders' Multiplayer Association (http://vrma.proboards.com/index.cgi).

VRMA currently runs using MSTS, but they are starting to host sessions for TS12. You will have to attend two sessions in September to take the first step towards being a qualified Engineer.

It is my belief that once VRMA starts using TS12, they will eventually migrate to TS12 and leave MSTS. The advantage obviously of TS12 over MSTS in multiplayer is the 'I can see you' element. MSTS doesn't have that.

If you want to be in-cab and have realistic radio communications, this is the site, VRMA, soon to be re-named.

If you want to be in control of certain yards, and have interchange, trackage rights, destinations, etc. etc. this is the game for you, Freight Yard Manager (FYM)
http://fymanager.co.uk/
This has satellite images with track overlays, and local industries, and has a LOT of the US in it. Not a lot of yards are left, but one yard can keep you busy for hours! There are also plenty of other people there that can give you help learning the ropes. Here's some of the features:

-Car destinations, all cars have a particular yard they need to go to, and need to be dealt with accordingly.

-Bad order cars, sometimes when being reckless, locos and cars can get damaged, you can put these on a train and attach a note to it for anyone who is yardmaster at a yard with a repair facility in it.

-Interchages, some yards serve as interchange points, and can transfer from one RR to another.

-TSAR's (Train symbols and routes) All trains leaving a yard must have a TSAR, or a train symbol, which indicates a unique train, such as CSX K977. TSAR's are accurate and the same as in the real world.

-Fuel, each locomotive has fuel in it, and as the train traverses yard to yard, it uses more and more fuel, got a re-fueling facility? Use it!

Basically this is an incredible game, and I would advise anybody to download it and try it out!

Hope this helps, and yes, VRMA is looking to get into TS12 and RW, but they haven't been too fond of the communities thus far. Plus, being able to see the other train is one thing, but being able to communicate with a dispatcher, trainmaster, and having track warrants, etc. is another thing. TS12 is good, but some of the aspects of it, like the fact that only a few great routes have been made that can have 10-20 trains at once on it, have been made. Sure some routes look good, but they don't have speed limits, mileposts, things like that. Railworks... well... just no.

That being said, good luck! If you want to do this, then so be it, I can only wish you luck, and I hope it works out for you!
