Very useful technical information on video cards and systems.

Everyone,

You might find this helpful.

http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_2.html

This guide is NVidia specific because this was something I was looking for, but there is a guide for ATI as well, and a guide for system performance tweaking.

This information maybe helpful for us to get the best performance out of our systems for better performance in Trainz.

I have just about given up on my GF (1Gb) laptop that has a factory video card. I can't get rid if the "jaggies" and antiailiasing button is not even there. Anisotrophy seems to have little effect, and Dirrect X is worse than Open GL.
See: ---> http://www.trainz.me.uk/config.htm

Joram24 high poly locos realy bring this factory video card to a 4 FPS slideshow, and there seems to be no setting an trainzoptions line addition that helps. Lower poly locos run well though. I get 72 FPS with a blank baseboard, and 38 FPS with CincySouthernRwy 2-8-8-2 steam locos.

Seems that with a slow laptop, and a factory video card, it is lucky that TRS2006 even runs at all on it. It would never run 09/10 I suppose.

After reading through some of the articles last night, I did some system tweaking. The results are quite promising. I plan on investigating more of this when I have the time.
