Vegetation question

I'm looking for a suggestion for whatever vegetation is available for T:ANE to use as wild honey suckle. I checked Download Station for it and came up empty. Thanks.

possibly try some of jvcs shrubs, apart from trees , many of the shrubs are just generic or the species isnt named , or they have weird category titles , its a question of spending a lot of time inspecting and downloading , as the items are often not well described .i've been looking for some items for years and then discovered that it was there but hiding itself away due to the creators whims, ( or language ) try translators to see what honeysuckle is in various languages.

good suggestions, thanks.
Here's another one. Golden rod. This one might be a little tougher to get a suitable replacement:

The Russian modelers use kust for shrubs and bushes if that's helpful. They range in size from about that of an ant to something almost the size of a tree. These are Speed Tree objects with no spline equivalent.

Toxa-Botoxa made some splines of various grass and shrubs. These are seasonal, but the names are numerous and pretty generic like Forest Spline A, for example. You may find something useful, but you need to dig.

JVC has various splines that work quite well. They're not exactly the honeysuckle, which we have that form as well as the shrub form, but these are a tangley mess which might be suitable. Unfortunately, the names aren't exactly helpful and are called something like Shrub-spline-A, or Grass with wildflowers 20 x 30., etc., These are made up names, but the names are similar to these.

With the non-descriptive naming for such items, there's no way to pinpoint them exactly, and the only way to find what is useful for the purpose is to setup a test route and try various splines until you find the one you want and place it on the pick-list.

That golden rod, while very fragrant and beautiful, is an awful pest in gardens. We have a patch of it on the edge of my property in bloom this time of year that's just as tall. As much as it's maligned for causing allergic fits from the pollen, it's a great source of food for bees and other pollinators so it's something to keep around but out of the garden.

Thank you
Thank you
Thank you !

I'm used to sinking down large vegetation where only the tops are exposed , which can make them look like tangely shrubs, but haven't been able to duplicate the wild honey suckle and the goldenrod that fills out the fields with yellow and runs along side of the roads and rails during the summers in the northeast US region. I like goldenrod too, but as you say....not taking over the gardens and lawns.
The scent of honeysuckle brings always brings to mind the great summers of being a kid playing outdoors.

(afterthought) If I'm ever in Russia, I will avoid ordering a slice of Kust-ard pie.

Love the pun! :D

Here's something to take a look at.

These fill in nicely, but I know they're not the same tangle of vines and shrubs we have up here. In addition to the honeysuckle is that awful Japanese bittersweet vine. It has largish green leaves and small thorns and produces a red-yellow berry on it in the fall. This has taken over the edge of my woods and will actually pull trees over as it chokes everything out.

There are many others and I've used these in various places with good results.

HA ! Honeysuckle...the New England Kudzo. I've torn the hell out my flannel shirts going through vines of thorny stuff covering the tree and bushes. Nice to smell but not so great to try and walk though. Another gift from the Orient.

Thanks for the list ! You are a real pal. I will send you a pie coupon good for one freshly baked Kustard pie.
I have a special place I keep my "vegetation ....aka....Kust library" at the far ends of my route in progress. One I get detailing within a few miles , I will move it up again. The first end-of - route will stop at the Boonsville station....40 miles or so north of Utica. Final destination will be to Carthage, NY, for route #2....and on to Watertown for route 3. (God willing) I've only got the tracks to Alder Creek so far...a few miles south of Boonsville. Alder Creek is the current home of my vegetation library before it gets bounced to the north . Hopefully, the numerous setbacks I've endured is mostly over.
The veggie library has all the potential vegetation for the route. But...there's a few key ones missing...honeysuckle.....goldenrod.. From that lot, I pick just a few to try and keep the assets limited as possible. With the chosen ones, it's a matter of adjusting the heights and rotating to keep them from looking too repetitive. That's my story....THANKS for the help ! A naked view of the Alder Creek veggie / kust library

You're so kind. They you for the Kustard pie! :)

I too have torn shirts walking through honeysuckle vines. My great grandmother had it climbing all over her garage and all I remember from when I was a kid was the *-load of spiders all over it along with the bees. These weren't just spider, but those big funnel weavers that makes those sheet-webs all over the place. Very creepy!

The route will be nice when you complete it. I was looking over that area yesterday on Google Earth. We lost a lot across New York State thanks to Penn Central and Conrail. One in the same in my mind with the difference being Penn Central was self-funded while Conrail was the same mismanaged company with a government bailout. They used their financial power to wipe out their competition such as the Lehigh Valley and Erie Lackawanna.

The street I live on is called Honeysuckle Drive. I'll go outside and see if I can find any honeysuckle.

EDIT: No. nothing here.

The Russian word for honeysuckle, translated to English phonetics, is "zhimolost". If you see that in any rmm or Pofig assets, that's the one to go for.

No problem....I put the order in and it'll come with a little side of ranch dressing and croutons. ...yummy !(frosting on weeds)

Yeah, I don't like those nasty things either. That bug dust you can get from ACE should get rid of those little boogers.

Thanks........it generally looks better than that pic of the Alder Creek Veggie library. Thanks for checking out the route area. There's a lot of great old history with the Utica & Black River RR. Fast and local freights from up north and passenger service to " the summer people" who'd get decked out and go up to the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River. The track north of Lyons Falls up to Carthage has been mostly removed, but you can tell where they were. There's still hope to get it going again. I think just north of Boonsville is as far as you can go now.
It's a shame how the bailout money was used and allowed to go into what it wasn't intended for. Where was the oversight ? Prisoners guarding the prison. Bunch of crooks. CON rail was correctly named, IMHO.

Thanks Deane, I'll check that out....BTW.......you need to plant some Honeysuckle or get the name of your street changed. I think Dinorius_Redundicus Drive has a nice ring to it.

Wow ! ..... you are a part of TRAINZ history... Actually, I'm not shocked, I knew that already. I hope you're getting royalties for having a built in street sign named after you.

Just think of it.....

Bob Hope Dr.
Frank Sinatra Dr.
Lincoln Ave
George Washington Dr.
Dinorius_Redundicus Drive

I was shocked to find it there by chance, but then remembered it was a reward for participating in the T:ANE Kickstarter at a certain level. There are many similar street signs with other Trainzer’s names on them.

A bit like corrupt party apparatchiks, money in unmarked brown paper bags was exchanged in a dark alley for the promise of immortality.

There's Citrons Hollow and Mt. Itareus.

No royalties just a mention in the route here and there.

WOW ! I am HONORED ! I'm not worthy. One Kustard pie on its way to you my friend. I'll find a good spot for it.
I would have settled for a JimDep Town Forest, filled with dead branches, twisted limbs and warped bark ( equally as appropriate)...but this is great. I'm speechless.

....say Deane....buddy.......pal, creator of the best TRAINZ content on the whole planet.....
Could you do me one little favor ?

Could you possibly throw the words " NEW YORK" in the middle of that thing ?
Thanks pal.
