Vanishing routes

To those great minds at Auran...

I sent two routes up recently after making slight changes to the config files in the hope that this might help you get them onto the DS.

On checking Planet Auran they seem to have vanished a few days ago and are still not on the DS....!!!!

I looked in unprocessed, preview and waiting areas - zilch...

So I wondered where the devil are they? Eaten by some strange route monster you have lurking in a dark corner?

Any ideas????????????????????/

No signs

Still no sign of these routes....

Very frustrating for me. I really must consider whether it is worth continuing to create the latest one at all, let alone bother to send it up. All I get is the frustrations of continually looking for them and I can frankly do without that at this moment in time, the anniversary of Alan's passing.

I will probably redirect my talents towards my old pastime of creating board games and dump Trainz as far as bothering to make routes.
No point in thinking about Trainz 09 either...

Hey Guy's.

Let's show a bit of support for a fellow Trainzer. I know allot of you have like me enjoyed running Angela's routes. It would be a great loss to the community if we lost such a great contributer. I know she has spent many hours creating her routes for us to enjoy. For a young "lady" of Angela's years, and sight problems I am in awe of the detail she puts in her routes. Angela has been a great inspiration for me , and without that I would never have been able to start the route I am working on. So Guys let's show some support and get the powers to be at Auran to solve the upload problem Angela has.

I agree. I wish I could be of more help though. Sorry if I didn't see this post sooner, but I've been busy with school, which ended yesterday. I get a week off before I dive into my next class.

Is there some kind of holiday going on in Australia at the moment that would preclude any kind of communication with Angela about this problem?

Irate post

I notice that my last post seems to have been removed... an irate one, but then I think I have been pretty patient considering I was 'promised' it would be on the DS within a couple of days about 3 weeks ago.

Thanks guys for your support, it's nice to know at least somebody appreciates the months spent over a hot computer!

God bless you,

Angela

Hi Angela,
I can't believe you are still having problems uploading your routes (I assume you are talking Cranby & Blackheath), I can see it must be really frustrating for you.
As an avid fan of your creations (I think I have all of them), and even uprating my PC in order to run them properly, I beg of you not to give up on us. Can you not upload to a 3rd party site as you did with Blackheath?
Hope it can all be resolved to your satisfaction, very soon. Which ever way you want to handle it,you can count on my support.
Regards Bruce

Still no sign of these routes....
Angela

I've only just seen your thread Angela, have you tried PMing Alan Yeomans to see if he can offer some help from Auran's end....Just a thought.....
And please reconsider leaving us, you'd be impossible to replace.....We have very few Ladies creating routes for us within the Worldwide Trainz community.

Hello,

I have been checking and doing the asset approvals everyday and I have not seen anything come through from Angelah. I even tried several times to try and upload a layout on Angelahs behalf and that also failed, though I certainly made no promises.

Angelah, if you can send the config files of the layout to me, I will forward them to the programming team to see if they can look into this further from their end, because as much as I've tried to resolve this, I'm unfortunatly stumped.

Alan.

Alan Yeomans

Okay, you didn't promise, but here is the line you wrote in the Blackheath thread...

Yeah, i can upload a layout on your behalf. Pretty sure Blackheath will be up on the DLS tomorrow.

The DLS wont know that its an alteration of an 04 route.

WCL2 Part Done - 87158:103370 downloads fine.

WCL2 Part Done_2 - 87158:103377 - I cannot fix and I will need to remove it and you can re-upload it if you wish. No point having something on the DLS which noone can download and I cant fix. I hope you are able to re-upload this.

Alan

Next, to what address should I send the configs to? TBH I am rapidly giving up on this. I uploaded both versions again at the end of last week and I have not been able to find them anywhere on my Planet Auran Profile, they just vanish, yet the end result of the upload says Successful, and that comes from Auran, not me! So I have to assume it was successful.... what other conclusion can I draw?
This is plainly a problem at Auran so apart from sending these routes up continuously there is not much else I can do.

Yours,

Angela

Dont desert us Angela as your work will be missed. All the CDP's of the WCL2 part done and the rest you gave me access to, do work ok so it is not your config or map that is the problem. Ive been tweaking the dems of the route so my part of the line fits to it without to much alteration. My Newton Abbot end was about 50 metres out so had to bend it slighly to fit but apart from that the line up to Taunton fitted quite well considering I did all mine by basemaps.

Thanks

A quick post to say Thanks to all who have sent messages here. Just to let you all know the file has gone up yet again after a few suggestions from Auran.... just sent it at 1150am on Tuesday 7th October.

God bless you all.

For Angela & Stagecoach

Angela
Don't give up your routes are fab.

Stagecoach.
Where can I find your Newton Abbott route?

Regards and thanks to you both

Ian

Waiting

Hello all,
At last, the VSR version of Blackheath Down is in the Waiting area so it shouldn't be too long before it appears on the DS - I hope!
Thanks also to those at Auran who persevered on my behalf.

God bless all,

Angela

Hi Ian
The newton Abbot to Exeter section to-gether with the old Teign Valley and Mortenhampstead sections plus Exeter to Exmouth are on the Devon Lines map on the DLS. Some content that is not on the DLS is all Available at http://www.devontrainz.co.uk/index2.html The scenery was not fully completed on the branch lines but all the track and stations are fully working and represent the line of the 1960's

Hi Stagecoach.

Thanks for your reply. Will download sometime. Will this route fit onto Angela's WCL at Taunton or is it further down the line?

Regards
Ian

Welldone Angela, hope all problems have been resolved. Looking forward to having a look at said route.:)

VSR

Hello to all,
The perseverence paid off and the first of the two Blackheath Down routes is now on the Download Station, so many thanks to those at Auran who kept slugging away at this problem and just as importantly to the members of this forum who posted in support of me and my little problem.

A very special mention must be made of greateastern who came forward without any cajoling or request from me and as far as I know anybody else, and offered to host these troubled routes. Now that is a sign of a true gentleman. Thank you Alan.

The second of this series, Blackheath Down Norfolk, is now awaiting processing at Auran - yes, it IS showing, so that's good news.

There seems to still be a problem on my PC. When I checked the write-up blurb associated with these routes I found it had been changed to the wording for my WCL2.... very odd. I checked all the other saves and it was the same. So the one I sent up to Auran yesterday evening I rewrote completely. That's fixed then... WRONG!
When I opened the cdp this morning I discovered the blurb was back to the WCL2 one again. How the Dickens is this happening? Also it does seem the configs had got messed about because I hadn't touched them and there were three anomolies in there that shouldn't have been.
So here is the correct blurb for both Blackheath Down routes.

This is a fictitious line converted from Rosworth and moved further south and west where it seems, the weather is sunnier! Well, just look at the textures, they are all new and brighter - as are the trees. Practically all things have changed including the terrain which is lower and 'softer' and the track plan now has no tunnels at all and is 4-track for the whole of the extended one side. The other shorter run is firstly along a long coastal wall much like Dawlish in Devon and there are more stations and a docks. Assets are all updated and several more added to make life interesting together with a naval dockyard and an emmense civilian one near Sandy Bay station. The track is in 2 versions, Norfolk which is on the DS and VSR which is not, you will need to download that. And remember that as on the WCL1 where there is a 4-track section, the fast lines may need to Priority Markers reset to 1 as they seem to go to default 2 when the route is saved. This prevents trains (consists) from changing tracks willy-nilly. You must also set the train priorities too of course.

Hope this helps.

God bless you all,

Angela

New Route

Hi Angela,

I'm sorry you had so much trouble uploading this but it is well worth the wait. Rosworth was one of my favourite route but you version is even better. Thanks for all the hard work and for persevering.

All the best

Paul

blackheath downs vsr

Hello angelah, despite all your upload problems, Blackheath Downs VSR is running ok in TC 3. looking forward to the B. D. Norfolk doing the same,......many thanks, take care,..regards

Thank you

Thank you each and every one....
The second version is in the Waiting Area so maybe it will show on the DS tomorrow.
The only difference is the track, one being the VSR type while this next one will show the Norfolk track. This is the one I have used on many of my routes.
However, I felt the VSR was nearer to what an English looking railway should be like. You judge for yourselves and if you want post your preference, I would be interested in those.

With this success I am fiddling again, another two-tier elevated line incorporating a lot of the FMA assets (they are quite spectacular!) or rather lines. I didn't like the initial arrangement so knocked out a lot of the circular routes that led back to the primary station, Avalon. The counteract this I have used quite a lot of portals and after half a day experimenting got those to work satisfactorily, so if I can, you all can. It's called leading from the front!
But a long way to go yet. In any case I still have the other elevated to work on as well.
So interest is once more well and truly stirred up. Thanks to those at Auran for their help and the support shown on here.

God bless,

Angela
