using tga's for renamable billboard

last week I tried to do my own billboards using the 'renamable billboard' in Content, result.... a dirty big red exclamation mark... a flop!... I tried doing it using the tga method, and firstly I cloned the original renamable billboard so that if I made a hash if it, I could easily delete it and revert to the original afterwards and not lose the use of that asset in CCP, and live to try again...

What should I be doing....I use PSP 7... should I make a new file using the stated size specified oon the billboard image you see, and save that as a .tga, and then copy and paste it on to the yellow image and merge all....

maybe I did it the wrong way first up, and tried to paste a bmp or jpeg onto the yellow tga file, and got the red exclamation mark when I committed it in CCP.... whoops! that didn't work, try again some other day, I thought....

What I want to do is make some billboards of some of the best remembered 'Adelaide things' like A&Rrrrrrrrrrrr (that many of us Adeladians will never forget), and Lounge Discounters (It's Free-bie time).... and who could ever forget that one?....), and now we have Mr GGG, and his famous solar panels)

You should say what the error actually was, as this gives you a clue to what went wrong. It may not be what you think.

If I understand this correctly, you should be able to substitute any image for the original one provided it has the same filename and is of the same type (in this case it must be a .tga file) as the original. Check for spelling errors in the filename as even a small change will cause an error. You also need to ensure the tga is not 'compressed' (it's a property of the image that PSP7 should be able to display and change to 'uncompressed' if needed).

Even if the dimensions of the new image are not the same as the original, you should still get no errors provided the dimensions for length and width are both powers of 2. And even if you change the ratio of length to width, it won't cause an error, but the image on the billboard will be distorted, so in general it's best to use the same pixel dimensions as in the original.
