using sessions to delete "stuck" assets

so recently I upgraded to win 7 and had to backup and reinstall all of my trainz assets. After the upgrade everything seemed to be fine until I loaded the route I've been working on since december. To my horror some of the splines had been changed to "bridge track std" and there was, what i thought, nothing I could do to delete them. I tried deleting the kuid from my route config, disabling and it was still there!

So what I did was create a new layer in surveyor. I then used the "?" and clicked on every piece of messed up track and changed it over to my new layer. After all the track was moved over to the new layer, I deleted it...and kazam...they were finally gone! Only down side was that I had to then go over the route and replace all of the now deleted splines.

Just thought that this might help out someone

Did you try deleting it as if it were something other than track? I had a similar problem and deleted it as if it were a building.

tried every option I had. The only way was to transfer to a session then delete it.

I had similar problem with track being stuck and couldnt delete them. What i found out was that i could still add splines to the track and move them around. So i cheated a bit and made a new baseboard moved the tracks to that board and deleted it. Voila, tracks gone. :P

The track was a placeholder for the missing or broken splines. The idea is that once you either install the missing splines or fix them so they work in TS2010 that they will assume their correct place and the track splines will disappear. That's why you couldn't delete them since they aren't really there. They are just standing in for the missing spline objects.

You also should have been able to use the Replace Asset tool to replace the missing splines by choosing the track and replacing it with another type of spline The old spline points are used by the replacement spline.

In essence what you did was delete the references to the missing splines which caused the placeholder tracks to be no longer needed.

This is really a quite handy feature since the spline points are preserved for the missing or broken splines until you decide what to do with them.

I tried the replace asset tool. It was weird because it was just random pieces of track. I had all kinds of that track everywhere...but only some of it was replaced with the bridge track
