Using older content in TRS 12

I'm trying to play catch up since it's been a long time away from Trainz, so I apologize if I'm asking stuff that has been covered. Are there any general rules as to what will work and not work in T12 as far as older content goes.? Is it hit and miss or are there some definite "don't bothers" ? If there is a thread on this, I 'd appreciate being pointed in that direction. I'm looking through some of my old favorites and would like to have as many back as possible.Thanks.

Hit and miss, some 2.5 build and less works fine, other assets have that many faults you can't count them.
Some assets may have been updated to work in 2012, have a good look through cm.

Ive been where you going and it's not as bad as fran1 implies.
I have repaired many 1.3+ assets utilizing PEV's apps and the forum.
I have fixed rolling stock, most types of locos, update some payware,splines,missing textures,missing parts,scenery.
Many assets can be fixed with a few clicks with PEV's apps.
I saved all my trz2.4 stuff

I will be happy to run thru a few old favorites but please DL Pev's app's and scripts and read tut's.

Pev's tools and AssetX are available from here http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/villaump/pevsoft.htm or here http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tutorials/index.php/home/utilities/pevsoft-trainz-tools, these are the only two official sources. They did appear on some other sites bundled with junkware and such like

A bit of information - AssetX is not stored on either my site or PEV's site directly, as PEV is not the sole owner. However, both my site (the shaneturner.co.uk one) and PEV's site (the members.optusnet.com.au one) both include links to andi06's site which is where it's kept.

As stated by Malc though, only download it either from PEV's site or my tutorial site, as downloads from other sites cannot be guaranteed (apart from AssetX, which is currently stored at the ajsmith.x10.mx (ajsmith.org.uk) - be aware that that address may change, so use the links provided above).
