they went from rags to riches...Conrail was still making revenue the last day (even more than CSX) when they went under.

I'll agree with the second part. But there was one in a few deleted threads that i saw. They are gone now obviously. BTW The routes all look great! I really can't wait to see them!

They could have been bought out by NS but regardless conrail isn't dead because then NS would have started a monopoly which is illegal in the US. As well as the property which was owned by conrail would now be NS's and then the taxes would go up so its a lot cheaper for them to keep it in 2 different names.
