Cool! Sweet looking route Firstsoloflight!
BTW, you do know the lead loco in your first pic is a Conrail, not a PC, right? Just thought I'd tell you.:o

Haha, so it is. I just threw down a bunch of loco's and some hoppers for some shots. Wasn't even paying attention to rebrands. Cheers.

In the beginning, Conrail didn't have time to patch every single inherited unit; many still wore an unpatched PC scheme until the early 80s. This actually could be a realistic shot if the date was late 1976.

Sorry, is my CR passion showing again? :)

Anyway, great shots so far to all. I am so glad to see this thread grow from a few dozen to several hundred pages. Keep up the great work, guys. USA pride!

Cheers,

Few more shots. And yes, for those wondering, this is just another boring rebuild of Highland Valley 2004. I find it difficult to maintain focus and inspiration on prototypical routes. Not to mention the hours of time spent/wasted on adding detail to vast areas rarely seen from cab view - although sometimes one decent screenshot makes it all the worth while.

I'm just going to have to switch to 09/10, or a next release higher build ... as you just can't achive this realisum of track and textures with 04/06.

You can't achieve a realistic look in 09/10 either. It's simply a matter of camera angle. Looking from anything higher than a 20* angle at it just looks like toys.

Not necessarily, hi-res textures do better than you think even when zoomed out or taken from a higher elevation.

OK ... Tell me snow actually accumulates, or frosts over, on 09/10 cars and locos and I'm sold ! Yes ... "New Speed Snow"

The look I was going for was freezing rain with snow on top of it, happens here in Southern Wisconsin a couple times every winter. Sure, I could have just put a small dust on the roof and a very light, minuscule amount of snow on the horizontal surfaces of the cars, but then we wouldnt see it more then 3-4' away from the cars would we;) .

The whole thing was just purely a novelty item meant to hopefully enhance your favorite winter route. I just acted on a thought Joe mentioned to me over a year ago, I thought it was a neat Idea.

I'm not going to "sell" you on them, some seemed to like them, some, not so much. The cars more then likely would have been freeware anyways, but after a long hard look at them tonight I am having doubts they are up to our standards for a release anyways:o (Joe's work puts the bar for us to follow real high) , not really sure if I want to put anymore time into this project:confused: .
