I wanted to ask...how did you configure your 7600 GT? I've got the same video card and I have no idea how to configure it. I've got a very very similar system set up to you so your settings should work for me.

I have almost close to your settings,exept my system however only has 2.88ghz, 1G and a Radeon 16000x Series AGP graphics card and it took me awhile to ocnfigure it too, even with the drivers! might i ask everyone something else too, i have TRS2006, does that also effect the graphics and performance aswell?

NW-switcher the W means Welded frame. The N meant Nine-hundred horsepower, but the rating was increased early on.

By the way, what does the T mean, in FT?

Thank you. I too use Windows XP. But since I'm getting my computer rebuilt I have no idea whats going in. All I know for sure is that I will have at least a Nvidia 9500GT graphics card and Windows XP. My Grandpa bought all of the parts and I'm going over today to have him help me rebuilt it.

The S in SC actually refered to 'six' as in six hundred horsepower. And of course the SW meant six hundred horsepower welded frame.

The original FT units were mostly delivered as AB units or ABA units connected together with semi permanent drawbars. Some roads insisted on couplers and those units were initially refered to by EMD as 'FS' units, or "seperable" units. One can speculate that the T originally meant "tied" or something like that. By 1945 the T and S designations were dropped. (So saith my diesel guide)

Good one, Justin. I've been wondering about that myself. I thought FT stood for freight. My copy of Brian Solomon's book on the F units doesn't explain it...and he's usually pretty comprehensive. Since the E units, which came before the FT's, were passenger, I thought FT meant "this is the new freight one." Anyway, whatever it means, it was a revolutionary design...and marked the beginning of a new era.

P.P.S. By the way, I'm actually old enough to have witnessed the transition from steam to diesel. Admittedly, I was only a small boy, but my grandparents lived across the street from the rail tracks in Flat River, MO...eat your hearts out youngsters...

The F in FT stood for Freight, and the T stood for Twenty-seven hundred horsepower.

And SW is Six Hundred horsepower, welded frame.
An NW2 is 900 horsepower, welded frame.

The F in F3 stands for, Full body cowl.
