Hallo,

nice route including nice vegetation.
You also have a cool looking speeder running at your rails. I even have not seen this one for quite a while. :) :D

Your’s TUME

We spotted these Goats working while we were at LATC in downtown Los Angeles on Monday.

Hi Justin, Happy 4th to ya.

No, The Mon-units were Super 7 series GE's (predecessor to the -8 series GE. CR bought 30 B40-8 from GE in the late 1980's for high speed trailvan at the time. :)

super 7s are not predecessors to dash 8s, they are older locomotives of various types rebuilt into dash 7s. super 7 was a rebuild program, not a production model like a dash 7 or 8 and so on.

Erm, Ulmer94, I've gotta ask, that War Baby your reskin or did lilb sneak her out under our noses?

Great shots all! Love that geep 30, those shots by kimo, and well, everything else! ;)

if lilb did, he probably would have taken off the skirting for the war baby model, so more than likely it is just ulmer94's skin of the daylight version

It is lilb's work, currently in beta. He's updating the Daylight scheme as well.

Jeremiah - The GS locomotives were painted black during WWII to make them a less inviting target in the event of enemy bombing. Hence the name "War Baby". However, the side skirts were not removed at this time. http://www.3rdrail.com/images/gs4-black1.jpg After the war, they were repainted to the Daylight colors. Later, in the 1950's, they took the side skirts off and painted them in the black scheme again.

I don't know when he'll be making a 1950's skirtless GS-4, he hasn't said anything about it. To make it, he'll have to model all the piping and equipment hidden by the side skirts, so a skirtless War Baby may be a ways off. He's surprised us before, though. We shall see.

WOW that is perfect! I also have been inspired by Pelle Soeberg, He is in my opinion a model railroader master! May I ask where u got those desert like plants and shrubry, as I have tried to get some good plants and grass but with very little avail.
Thanks!

Thanks for the correction and the info :)

Reminds me, I really need to make a VGN skin for the E33s. The model is due for an upgrade anyway...

I'd be especially interested in knowing what VGN would've done with their electrification... probably eventually would've either removed it or expanded it everywhere, but it sure would be neat to see black and yellow on some more modern locomotives...

I think that if the Virginian was still around as of the mid 70s, they would probably have entertained the #1975 and #1976 demonstrators from EMD.........Of Course GE would have probably designed something to compete with them..

I wonder how a GM6C or a GM10b would look in Virginian paint..........(Yes you, you know who I am talking to....)

Heck, the Virginian would still have had their E33s, maybe they would have picked up some used E44s from Conrail....... They might have been easy to rewire.....

Food for thought.

Some more shots from my WIP route:

P-10 on a mail train

AC-12 on a slow freight

GS-4 on a fast passenger train

And a thunderstorm in the sunset just as the photographer was about to pack up and go home

When ever I mistakingly quote a photo ... I go back and Edit my post ... and using the A/A tool button I take out the image tags
, or take out the Quote tags
[QUOTE/]

By the way ... at that water post location, there were some widely varried different scenes there throughout the years ... several water spouts, engine servicing/siding passing tracks ... and later on high speed water scoop mile long tank tracks.
