:o

Yeah, well, um... the valley pretty much looks the same everywhere. I claim artistic licence.

:hehe:
I apologize in advance for this, but I am going to pick nits here... :p

Coast Daylight rumbles through the Central Valley between San Luis Obispo and San Jose.
The area between San Luis Obispo and San Jose is not the Central Valley. The Central Valley runs between the Coastal Range and the west slope of the Sierra Nevadas. The area you would be running between SLO and SJ would be on the Central Coast, or perhaps the Salinas Valley, on the west side of the Coastal Range from the Central Valley. As someone who was born and raised in the Central Valley (Manteca, to be exact), and who served at Ft. Ord, there is a difference between the three... :)

Again, I apologize for nitpicking, but the Valley-boy in me just couldn't resist...

MSP

Thanks jakelw, qassaquyangli, turog and Bob Cass for the nice comments. Bob, as a former resident of your state that means a lot. In the eleven years I lived there I always enjoyed my travels through out the northern part of Arizona. I think I can handle the terrain and scenery aspect of my planned route, but I have long way to go researching and track planning. Finding the right bridges, buildings, and other details will be quite a project. At some point (like now) I’ll need help and advice from other ATSF/BNSF southwest route builders.
By the way turog, those are some great shots of your route you’ve been posting.

Beautiful coastline normhart! It makes me want to go swimming, or just hang out on the little island and watch the trains go by.

It's all that time you're spending in the desert. ;)

This is another of George Fisher's classics, St Barbara. I've fallen in love with this little route and it most definitely reminds me of the California coast.
