Thanks for the explanation guys! Great vid too...man it looks so light! I guess that's the best way to go about putting them onto the track (wouldn't be worth making and maintaining a separate switch for them).

Washington, DC

Here we have a NB NE Regional approaching the North Portals of the First Street Tunnel in DC opening it up into the Union Station Trackage. This is the Northward Tube, the SB trains run in a parallel tube.

This is the farthest South catenary goes on the NEC, only extending the length of about one and half football fields into the tunnel (which is only for electrics to run down to A Interlocking and then back onto the Escape track).

With concrete ties it may seem like a high speed tunnel but it actually suffers from a 25mph speed limit.

Well here ya go, just thought I'd give you some background:

As someone who has worked with a speeder, I can tell you this. The back end tends to be pretty light. Even with the engine in the front, they are pretty easy to turn, and rail. The one that I worked with was an ex CN one and it had extendable handles(two on each side.) that you lifted with. Trust me, it was much better than dealing with that damn cart that was there. (We called it the speeder cart, but it was too heavy for the speeder to pull. Really, it was just a rail cart that was really heavy.)

You have to be somewhat careful with your speed in a speeder as well, as they are light enough that they can derail quite easilly at higher speeds.

Here is a lil something else i have been working on.. i purdy much got the basics down now all i have to do is add in all the details..

Are there any freeware versions of this (whatever it is ;) ), and preferably for the Union Pacific???

Thankyou, Chris -

Coalfield Local CB10 with 8152 on point slowly works its way through the small bedroom community of Brownsflatt affectionately know as End of the Line to what is known by the crews as the “end of the line mine”, across the road from Freeman’s General Store the Volunteer track officially ends and the Big Orange has come as far north as she will on this line.
