USA Pics

I purchased the Burlington Northern SD60M from Jointed Rail, took her for a run on Tidewater. Nice work Justin. It was actually about $13-50 Australian, but I was willing to pay for this....

I'm not a huge supporter of payware but I don't mind paying for something that isn't on the DLS or this isn't a freeware version of.

Nice engine though, the engine sounds are really meaty and then there is the air noises etc.

Thankyou Justin.:)

Florida Nights

(OR a rainy night south of Georgia)

Nice shots Justin. Looks like it was worth the money.

I think that was a mistake in identidy on your part, the post was by me, Colhad. I just posted pics of Justin's work.:p

Mind you, if I wish I could produce content like Justin's.:hehe:

No doubt, no doubt. I just saw the name at the end of the post and didn't read deep enough because my mind was still on the shots. Me, I can only produce content like carp compared to the stuff shown here.

Skidmark:
You more than compensated for your mistake with the really great shots you posted. Very good composition!

Thanks Gary for those kind words. Maybe one of these days, I will be able to post some with my own routes etc. Just bear with me.. I'm trying.

Well, keep practicing. The best way to improve route building is to enjoy it, as you create a route you're constantly learning.

As you go along raising mountains and creating terrain, you get to know how to control your mouse a bit more. Different strenghts and radii will give you quite good results with landscaping.

With texturing, I think the type of textures to use can be trial and error. Try different types of grass, gravel etc and blending them to see what works and what doesn't.

Route building, with a bit of practice and perseverance you'll get good. The key is to enjoy it and then everything will fall into place.

My biggest problem right now is I have no idea what goes trackside. Lights, switches, signs, etc, etc, etc. I put the wrong type of light in the wrong place, everyone gets a big laugh. I'll keep batting away at it. I would love to build a route from Richmond, Va up thru Gordonsville to Charlottesville. Even put in the Buckingham Branch route.

I can see one thing in the Florida East Coast Railway routes that I downloaded from DLS and would like to make a suggestion on if I am permitted. I have been going over the route and changing the height on part of the trees. It bothers me that they are all the same height which I don't see in the real world accept on Pine tree farms. Just a suggestion from what my eye sees.
