USA Pics

Not even sure how to interpret this...
I do, its pretty simple, somebody should have done there homework before opening their mouths. SP did operate trains in Louisiana, but of course they did operate trains in Illinois, Oregon, California, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and I bet you'll even find out they operated in Kansas.

...I've got a lot of steam locomotives from the South, mainly: Southern, Interstate Railroad, Tennessee Central, and Norfolk & Western.
I'm sorry but, real quick, if you're trying to specifically look for locomotives relative to the South, have you not considered The Dixie Line? :o

Although CSX's Western & Atlantic Division passes thru Rocky Face, I'm a Southern fan. Plus, there's not a large variety of Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis steam locomotives on the DLS.

seeing as he's from the south, I think he knows.

When was the NC&StL mentioned above? A quick search on google of "the dixie line" popped up:

Well I did a quick search on the DLS, searching using 'Nashville' in the title and description, and I only come up with leeferr's NC&StL #576 and CincySouthernRwy's Louisville & Nashville L-1 4-8-2 and J-3 2-8-2. EDIT: I also know about leeferr's Louisville and Nashville #152.

Jolly Green Giants smokey ALCO style! AMAZING!!!! Splendid work! That is something I'm sure millions of us BN Green Giant fans are doing flips too

The SP was not a "southern" railway. It had 2 lines that ran through Louisiana. You guys might be mistaking the SP for the MP, they had a lot of track through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas. SP had their most trackage in north California, Texas, and had 2 lines connecting Chicago to west Texas and Chicago to Nevada Southern California area.

No, Missouri Pacific had only like 5 miles of track in Mississippi and nothing in Alabama.

I don't think anyone was saying SP proper was southern, at least I didn't read that anywhere, but their subsidiary railroad Texas & New Orleans was and certainly some of their locomotives were. Most of SPs trackage from Texas and to the East was subsidiary lines. The state of Texas had a law that said any railroads operating in the state must have a headquarters there, so subsidy lines were a way for SP to reach the east via New Orleans. The T&NO was very prominent in south Louisiana, and was a remnant of a Confederate railroad.

I'm not certain you could consider the Southern Pacific a 'Southern' railroad, giving that it was most, if not all, in Louisiana.
What the heck are you talking about? Almost none of the Southern Pacific Railroad was in Louisiana.

BTW those Alcos look amazing.

I would assume that law was passed as a way to ensure that any railroad related legal disputes would always be subjected to Texas law. They're not trading interstate so that leaves them out of Federal jurisdiction, at least in theory. You have to keep in mind that railroads back then were a very lucrative, and very corrupt, business. It gives Texas total control over all the railroads and tries to make all the profit stay in Texas. Of course this was all removed decades ago.

Sorry for quoting pics, but is that FelixG's RS-3 model with the updated textures (which I think he took off n8phu's C424/C425's)? I gotta teach myself to reskin that...then again I need to get better at reskinning in general!

Also, what route is that? It looks superb!
