Hi Forum Readers
I would like to upload my route for people to use if they so wish.
It is for Trainz 2006, I know some people are still using it.
Question 1.
Auran ask that you supply a 240 x 180 pixel image, JPG. How
do I do this? And make it part of my upload?
Question 2.
How do you do the description for your Route on the start
page where the routes all come up? For sessions I know where to do it.
But cant workout how to do it for surveyor. I have done a description in
the past but can not remember how I did it. And cant find the reference
in the manual
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Russell.

Good to see you managed to finish the route before the September deadline.

Use MS Paint for the 240 x 180 shot.

Open Trainz.

Find a nicely framed shot of your route.

Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard.

Go into MS Paint. Click on "Edit" then "Paste".

Picture will appear.

You can then use the "View - Zoom - Custom" options to reduce the viewable size (this won't make the finished image smaller, it simply reduces the size so that you can work. You do need to see the whole image). 50% is about right on my screen. You can go back to 100% to check out how it looks later.

The next bit allows you to reduce the final image size.

Go to "Edit - Select all". Grab the blue dot at the lower right of your image with the double arrow. The pixel size will show in the bottom right box.

You can then go to "Edit - Resize/Skew" and reduce the percentages in the dialogue box. You need to keep the proportions the same though, otherwise you'll get a fat or skinny result. There's a bit of trial and error required here, and some trimming will probably be needed - particularly if you have started with a wide screen image.

"Edit - Select all", will also allow you to grab the picture and move it up & left, but you'll lose that part of the picture when it's moved out of frame once you click off it. (Unless you "Edit - Undo")

The bit left behind will remain white within the grey background. You need to get rid of this.

Grab the blue dot at the lower right with the double ended arrow. This will let you drag the white bit back to the picture edges. You must get rid of all of the white, or it will show in your final image. It's sometimes easier to pull the sides in separately. When doing this you'll see the pixel size of the image shown in the lower right box.

Keep adjusting until you get the required size.

It takes a bit of practice.

This is probably the old duffers method, but it works for me. (Details of an easier method will be warmly welcomed!)

Regarding question 2 , sorry don't know. I've not been there so cannot help, but I'm sure someone else will.

I believe if you open the route by going to CMP and then clicking "edit in CCP" After it has loaded there will be a spot for a description you can add one there. And to the left there will be a white column click the one that says "thumbnail" This is where you will add the picture you want seen.

Move your picture to your route in the editing folder (editing folder is located where you installed trainz)

After you have moved your picture click the "...". Locate your pic and select it choose the size where it says width and height.

Save in CCP then Commit your route and the description and photo should appear when you go to select your route.

in surveyor ... go to edit route at top of screen where the button for drive, edit, (and one other button) ... in there you want to edit session wich is the first or second item in the list ... in there you can add a description for the route ... hope i got this right
