Updated cabs (interiors)

Get over it
Awhile back someone directed me to a thread where sniper297 had a list of his updated interiors and as he has so often stated when you get older it gets harder to remember where the heck everything is. I've looked under his name and on varoius other threads but it's escaping me. If I remember correctly I was not sure exactly sure which kuid went with what loco. Kuid xxxx:xxxx fits an SD40-2 and so on. Would some kind member please direct me to that thread AND if you could explain which interior fits which loco.:o Thanks.

Forum search is still busticated, so I can't find it either. All my "intellectual property" is uncopyrighted public domain, so the general idea is take what I make, clone it and reskin it for your own railroad, improve on it if you can and upload your own version so I can use yours.

For the most part the descriptions give a clue;

Bilevel push-pull cabcar interior 2,<kuid2:522774:1151:1>

Obviously for a bilevel cab car.

CTA 6000 interior,<kuid:522774:100464>

Same cab moved down for regular railcars, I used that on the CTA 6000 series but it could be adapted to any railcar with a similar shape.

Lighted f7interior_mph_rhd 2,<kuid2:522774:1095:1>

Used for F7s and E8s, could be used on almost any "covered wagon" type US diesel.

Lighted SD40-2 cab mechanism,<kuid:522774:1075>

I made that with a generic dirty brown shell, so if you want to see bright UP yellow looking out the back window you would need to clone and reskin the shell. Obviously for an SD-40.

PON SW cab,<kuid2:522774:1004:1>

And assorted variations, made for the Alco S4 but could be used for any switcher, again need to clone and reskin so you're not looking at a green hood while driving a black switcher.

RS11 cab IndustRail,<kuid:522774:1214>

And assorted variations, again need to clone and reskin if the loco you're adding it to don't have a red hood. Alco RS11 and RSD12, whatever else has that same general shape.

297 GP7 cab grey template,<kuid:522774:100564>

Starting to do more of those, medium gray undecorated intended to be easier to clone and reskin. Any GP7 or GP9 high hood.

ChiMet GP9 cab II,<kuid2:522774:100040:2>

Again, body in Chicago Metro colors so would need to be cloned and reskinned, suitable for most early generation geep low hood locos.

IndustRail GE44T cab rev1,<kuid2:522774:1045:1>

For a GE 44 tonner, obviously. Again would need to be cloned and reskinned for anything other than IndustRail.

Industrail Alco RS3 cab,<kuid:522774:1143>

And assorted variations for PO&N, HarborMaster, and whatever else I skinned, suitable for any Alco RS1, RS2, RS3, RSD5, etc. Again would need to be cloned and reskinned to match the exterior of whatever you're using it on.

An aside here, one thing that would help tremendously is if model makers would include an additional mesh that's just the cab shell with the seats and console shapes removed, that way when people kitbash cabviews they could use the cab shell as the basis for a cabview, add control stands or consoles, set the outside-visible-from-cabin 1 tag so you would see whatever the actual body is from inside the cab. That way we would only need one cab shell for each type instead of all the endless reskins for different railroads.

Anyway, I'm sure I missed a few, but most should be self explanatory from the name. Got a specific model or models in mind?

Thanks sniper297, couldn't have asked for a better explanation. I run mostly SD40-2's, Dash8 and 9's. You wouldn't have an interior for a Dash8 or 9 laying around would you? I think I saw one made by someone with the kuid 54125, not sure of the author's name. Might give that a try. Thanks again for helping an old fart like me. I printed out your answer, now if I just don't misplace it.

Dadblasted newfangled contraptions don't even LOOK like trains!

Well, I'm a first generation diesel fanatic, love my geeps and Alcos, but made the SD40 cab because their was a lot of demand for it. I don't do GEVO AC44 Dash 99 stuff, but the kid was doing one and got me interested.

AC44_PO&N_int,<kuid:388676:1068>

That's the only modern diesel cab with the lighting effects that I know of, possibly JointedRail has some more since they got a lot of younkers who are into them newfangled monster road engines.
