UP Steam through St. Louis - UP 844 and Challenger 3985

Thanks John, I liked the scene by the MOW crew, where everyone starts out right next to the track, and then backs away as the huge engine gets closer!

That was one of my favorite scenes too. I like the part where the MOW worker is busy fixing the crossing and ignoring the steam engine like it wasn't even there!

Hey I thought my dad was deadliest kvetch! ;) It's a personal inside joke. PM me sometime and I'll explain. LOL

I love these old behemoths. I've missed 3985 twice now (I asked my railfanning friends to give me a heads up when she was coming...guess what, they didn't deliver), but last june I literally just stumbled on 844 laying over at Kansas City Union Station, on her way back to Cheyenne from her rail tour. My God, she was just as beautiful as I'd always imagined her to be!! she sat there, sounding like she was softly breathing, resting her old bones after a long trip. I've got a picture of me standing on her pilot: It's one of my most treasured railway keepsakes.

One of the best videos of Up Steam.
I like the part where the woman is putting coins on the track.

When UP was doing the "Steam Excursion Adventure" publicity stunt, those who participated were entered into a bin. If the train ended up traveling through or close to your hometown, then your name was put in another drawing. If your name got drawn, then you got to ride it for a 3-hour segment of the trip.

Yeah I entered that but never heard back from anyone.
