Unstoppable scenario

Unstoppable is almost 100% fake. Everything in that movie pretty much could not happen. Trust me, I work for Union Pacific

Oh Noes! It said right at the beginning that it was based on a true story. You mean that Hollywood would LIE to us? Oh, I am shattered, just shattered.

BTW, I am still unable to download anything from TPR. Is any one else able to? All I get when I click on the TPR link on the route download page is a huge page of orange stripes. Anyone?

Bill

I just experimented with that Bill, and you will get that result if you are not logged in. Make sure you are, and give it another go.;)

I does no good, Ed. When I try to create the stupid account, I get redirected to the orange-stripe page when I click the button to create the account.

Maybe TPR just isn't accepting any new accounts.

Sorry Bill, I just tried to access the database as an administrator, and it's throwing up errors. I am not able to register you, and not able to diagnose the errors. Me thinks they need someone to manage the database...:(

What's up with that huge long page with the orange stripes? The only way I can tell what the error reads is by looking at the page source. I had no idea it even WAS an error page until I tried that.

EDIT: I just tried the same login there that I use here ---- and it accepted it! I have NO record of ever creating an account there because I always put new accounts into a text page on my desktop. I haven't a clue how my account got created there. Very strange.

And the last question - how trains get their names in U.S. As I saw several YouTube videos, they have names for example SBD Y107, but in this movie trains are called by the numbers of lead locomotive...

To be brief, it varies based on RR. So with trackage rights, train number may change frequently.

Simple template: AABBC 9999
Where AA are initials of originating yard, BB are destination yard, C is type of train (ie intermodal vs auto vs coal), 9999 may be loco number or chronologically issued number that is updated/reset every 24 hours system-wide.

The featured AWVR was likely a Class 2 size, so it wouldn't have that many trains, so they would likely be issued by leading loco number (in the days of steam the UP did it that way).

Pros, plz correct if I'm wrong.

Yes, it makes sense. Probably it's really question of each RR, because Canadian freights are named like CP 220-09, where 220 is probably kind of train/route and 09 is chronologically issued number.

Your answer is good for me, because sometimes I don't know how to name my consists. I completed them for example from YouTube videos, but uploadeds often don't write names of trains. So if I would know (for example) the train comes from Fuller to Stanton, with coal, the name could be "FUSTC 010" - this mean 10th train per day. Or it could FSC 010 too...?

uh both of u are wrong CSX had the same thing exept they didnt use a train at the back it just had one engine at the front #8888 also it happened in 2001 in ohio

1. No need to numb a 2 year old thread.

2. Just because the movie said it was based off of something doesn't mean the real life thing happened the exact same way.
