Just farting around seeing what kind of shots I can get with some new trains in TS2009

Both sets are very impressive. We should keep this thread for people who want to post any Union Pacific shots they have. When the Challenger becomes available, I'm sure a LOT of people will want to post shots of it at work. I know I will.

Is there a website for UP_sucks.com like there is for CSX?

No, but there can be, If for only a few minutes until UP Attorneys find it and SUE the crap out of who ever made it. I personally think UP is WAAAAAAY over publicized.

Best suggestion I have for something like that is to do a web search. I'm sure there's a site like that for just about every railroad, airline, car company.....................................

I found the following article at CSX_sucks.com

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Federal inspectors were clearly troubled by what they had been seeing
in recent years at Union Pacific. According to their written accounts,
track defects repeatedly went uncorrected; passenger trains were sent
down defective tracks at speeds more than four times faster than were
deemed safe; and engines and rail cars were dispatched in substandard
condition.

Soon, the inspectors from the Federal Railroad Administration began
talking tough: bigger fines and more of them. But as they began to
crack down on the railroad, they found themselves under fire from an
unexpected quarter: their boss, the agency's deputy administrator,
Betty Monro.

The article is much longer but couldn't get it all on here.

It seems to me that a lot of the rail companies like wo whine about one thing or another. My personal feeling is that they need to leave people alone and just accept the fact that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.
My major issue with UP and BNSF is that they want TONS of money to allow anyone to use their track.
Case in point is a local railroad museum who would like to do occasional trips to another town about 40 miles or so away. While I understand the complexities of using the track and avoiding traffic problems, I don't see why they need to be so greedy and demand a lot of money just for a small trip.

It's called "Contingency Surcharging". I would charge a boatload of money too, for a museum, using rolling stock rebuilt to what standard? With hardware obtained from what source? With nuts and bolts of what documented code? Installed and operated by volunteers with what training? Certification? Professional testing? Qualifications?

Who pays if an accident does happen, when the passengers sue the class 1 for not keeping up the track?

Put that package together on a class one railroad track that makes billions when it's open, and hope and pray that something doesn't fall apart and derail...closing the line for hours or worse? Tick tock, all that revenue held up by a museum excursion train...Insurance you say? Nah....let's get the cash up front ...a contingency fee in case you guys mess up our tracks.

This is one of the biggest of big businesses, and I don't begrudge the UP or any other road from protecting it!
