Oh boy here we go again...

To quote one of my previous posts on the issue and to give some back story:

ANL made the Challenger and TTT-6, uploaded to RRMods.com. Later they where joined by the FEF. ANL then became a partner with Jointed Rail, and requested his content taken down off of RRMods so it could be updated and redistributed through Jointed Rail. They where taken down however I believe they where put back up without ANL's permission. Because of this, ANL decided to not re-release his content immediately on Jointed Rail, and instead decided to take his time updating it. Of course, because people don't know the whole story they believe ANL was being selfish when instead he was just protecting his hard work. A large amount of people who didn't have the content became gimme-pigs and ANL was put under a lot of pressure to re-release his content so he walked away from Trainz for a while. Now that people are just redistributing his content freely so I'm sure he just says to himself, "Why bother?". In the long run it almost seems like it was a futile effort to make accurate models of neglected Union Pacific engines as the community took it all for granted and treated it poorly.

So long story short, no, there is no way to get them and the odds of it being released now are slim and none.

Ohh..:o
So its not possible to get them in any way.
I've downloaded UP 844 from Trainzitalia. Its cool, but I observed that ANL's UP 844 is more High Detailed Locomotive.

UP is one of the only class 1's left with an official steam program. The new CPKC sort of restarted a program with the Empress but it only ran on that tour to Mexico City and back so far. If UP buys NS then their steam could roam east but at the cost of not allowing public excursions ever again with the 765 and 611 like NS did several years ago. Hopefully UP will continue to allow ferry moves of 765 and 611 so that they can operate on excursion friendly railroads. The Amtrak excursion ban in March 2018 caused some steam locomotives like the 4449 to be stuck at home. It ran excursions and specials on BNSF under Amtrak insurance. BNSF allowed guest steam locomotives, but UP does not, only their own. UP bought SP in 1996 and SP became a fallen flag. So, 4449 can't operate on former SP lines owned by UP. It can't go anywhere except on a few miles of track in Portland, Oregon because of the 2018 Amtrak charter and excursion ban. Amtrak insurance was cheaper. I just downloaded the FEF's from Approach Medium. Maybe the missing dependencies can be found through the kuid index or substituted. Whistles/horns and enginesounds are easy to substitute in the config. UP has offered a handful of public excursions with the 844 and Big Boy in recent years. Expensive, though.

Interesting. Is that also why the Big Boy never comes by here on the way to Portland, Oregon? It seems to go everywhere else, but never this way. We figured it must be because of mainline traffic between the port of Portland and destinations east.

The Big Boy has gone to Chicago and New Orleans and pulled a public excursion from New Orleans. Not sure if the Big Boy could travel on NS rails if UP buys NS because of bridge and curve restrictions in the east. What would be certain though would be an almost total foreign steam ban with UP on former NS lines. There would never again be a future opportunity for 611 or 765 to operate excursions on what was NS. Maybe ferry moves like they do with NS now. 611 is running excursions again from Goshen to Staunton, VA this fall in partnership with SRI of Owosso, MI who is supplying coaches. VMT lost a bunch of key members who quit after the fall 2023 excursions on Virginia Scenic on the same route. If the "merger" happens, it would be just like all the others, MP, D&RGW, CNW, SP, etc. Those roads were gobbled up by UP and ceased to exist. NS and the horse logo and horsehead would cease to exist and the headquarters would be Omaha with Jim Vena as CEO. NS culture would be replaced by UP culture and rules in the east. NS diesels would be repainted Armor Yellow and gray. Even if the merger is denied, I don't see excursions returning to NS without Amtrak support and insurance, Amtrak ended charter trains and excursions in March 2018 when then head Richard Anderson wanted to cut the fat at Amtrak and run it like an airline. He was from Delta. The 21st Century NS excursions were run without Amtrak support though and NS insured the excursions. Amtrak was going to host 611 excursions 2018 and forward and expand where 611 traveled to, but then the ban happened. And coaches need to be Amtrak certified when running under Amtrak, the NS excursions had some coaches that would not have been Amtrak compliant. With UP though they can run public excursions without Amtrak, but they only run maybe 1 or 2 public excursions a year and this year they scaled back their steam tours but plan to do a big tour next year for the nations 250th birthday. The Big Boy ran a public excursion in July from Denver to Cheyenne on normally freight only UP track. Wyoming has no Amtrak service. I think the days of private and volunteer organizations running steam excursions on class 1's are over. Too much liability. There is not as much liability when running on short lines, regionals, and tourist railroads with the 765 and 611. They just need the support of NS to ferry them to those other railroads and back.
