Un-used flat cars turned into bridges...

The above is a set if pictures I took at Mart Dock in Muskegon, MI. These flat cars were brought from Texas. They are being modified (couplers cut off, wheels and breaks removed) so they can be used as bridges to services power lines in the marsh area around the Muskegon Cobb Power Plant which can be seen in this photo:

Thought someone here might find the pictures interesting.

While I was at Mart Dock I asked the manager if I could go into the old ice marking plant that serviced the refrigerated box cars in Muskegon (all of the machinery is still there) but was told I could not take a tour due to liability and the Agency for State Security (I mean Home Land Security) (it is a deep water port on Lake Michigan.)

I hope some day I can get in to take pictures of the old Machines.

Flatcar Bridge in Parke County, Indiana

Few people know that when the Little Rocky Fork Covered Bridge was bypassed about 20 years ago, the new bridge was made out of a flat car. If you climb down the embankment, I believe it says "Soo Line" on it.
