the Ironton Railroad

Very beautiful work. These screenshots look like postcards. I came across this thread while doing a google search. I grew up in the lehigh valley and currently live in Whitehall. I walked these tracks as a kid behind my grandfathers house where Faith Church sits today on route 145. I can still see the rail cars sitting on the siding across from where the Sheets is today, and I ride my bike on the current rail trail.

There are several local layouts in Trainz that I am familiar with. The NS Mainline Easton to Reading through the Allentown classification yard, Reading and Northern are great works.

Man the detail here is just fantastic. Unbelievable how the terrain and such changes in 100 years from the screenshots to today's comparisons. I have tried many times to create a working layout from the DEM terrain of actual railroads with no success. I just never got it down, so I can truly appreciate how much work and research goes into a creation as this. Keep it up my friend!!

I definitely agree with this assessment! Many winter scenes are not very convincing because of their complexity--certainly not an issue with the Ironton Railroad! I am also impressed with how textures are applied without much of a tiling effect anywhere. Wow, simply wow!
