UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

I got permission from the creator, and he (Simon from the Google Sketchup Community) was kind enough to allow me to use his Google Sketchup models in Trainz and release it with the route when its done. Not exactly highly detailed, but they'll suffice.

I know that there are a few inaccuracies(eg. the fencing dividing the former Eurostar terminal and domestic terminal; its a metal bar fence, not a steel wall, the trackage is not DC equipped; I will replace the track close to finishing the thing, this track allows me to lay it quicker), I'm working on several things that need fixing. I hope you all like it

It's been a while since I posted any new shots, so here's some of a new section (Shildon - Simpasture) on my Bishop Auckland route. Textures and vegetation are still rather basic on this section, so please bear with me - as usual the final result should be a bit more polished.

The Bishop Auckland - Darlington (left) and Shildon - Newport (right) lines diverged east of Shildon at what is now the site of Newton Aycliffe station. The latter were of course the subject of the pioneering NER 1500V DC electrification scheme in 1915:

Although the double track line on the left is still in use today the Shildon - Newport line closed in 1964.

Here's Simpasture Junction, where the two lines joined:

The line between Simpasture and Shildon was incredibly busy in pre-nationalisation days, and still retained five running lines until the mid 1960s. Looking east, the three leftmost lines (which originated in Middridge Sidings) were dedicated to up freight traffic, with the second and third lines from the left both being electrified in NER days. The fourth line carried up traffic for Darlington whilst the rightmost (also once electrified) carried both down traffic from Darlington and freight from Newport.

Looking the other way, the bridge in the centre of this view marks the entrance to Middridge Sidings (the easternmost extent of the Shildon Yards, and the first to go during rationalisation):

Of course, this does mean that I'm now committed to doing Shildon Yards as well. I must be mad.

Nice shots peeps :)

87004 stands at Crewe with a Euston bound service, whilst 33008 (just out of frame) sits on the front of a Cardiff bound working and 304008 waits with a Manchester Piccadilly stopping service

Cool route.

Make sure you keep Dr Beeching away from it though...

Hello Isaacg,

Just to let you know that the Class 158 Northern logo is wrong, if you can correct it to this, then your model will look better...

158_TransPennine2

158_TransPOrig

Other than the logo, your model looks superb, keep up the good work.

Hope these pictures help
