UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Nice shots all,
Staying with Rumour3's superb new Class 66, here's a couple from the Prodworthy route.
Looking forward to the imminent reskins.

I believe they produce Class 66's for export in London, Ontario, Canada, at the GM/EMD shops. And nice job Romour3!

Yep it seems we can't build locos in the UK anymore, quite ironic seeing as it all started with us.

That 66 is fantastic great job R3

:D

Peter are the National Express sets your own reskin or are they out there. They look supurb

Well one from my Shoeburyness route with a reskinned 305 (my first attempt, all over blue coz it isn't the hardest livery to reproduce) will eventually release it if I get WENs promission. Tell me what you think as all comments are welcome.

Yeah I think it's because the 66's are just British versions of the American SD70 series locomotive, but I could be and am probably wrong...

It's also because GMD/EMD are a Canadian company, so if you want more locos, just give us a hollar! That is of course, if GMD isn't completely drowned in this economy crash.

Nope the 66's were born out of the Class 59's which Somerset based agregate company Foster Yeoman who designed the first Class 59 in 1984. HTH :)

The Skodatrainz site has closed, but nexusdj is in the process of uploading it all to the DLS. Expect them on there in... a year?;)

I don't think Foster Yeoman designed anything. From Wikipedia

"Following Foster Yeoman's dissatisfaction with the availability and reliability of British Rail's Class 56 diesel freight locomotive and their satisfaction with their EMD SW1001shunter, four Class 59/0s were ordered from EMD and arrived in 1986. A new design to the British loading gauge and specifications, derived from the EMD SD40-2, it used the cab layout of the British Rail Class 58 to aid driver assimilation.
They were the first US-built (and privately owned) diesel locomotives to operate regularly on the British main line. However, EMD powered locomotives have been the mainstay in both the Republic of Ireland since 1961 and Northern Ireland since 1980.
Following Foster Yeoman's example, ARC purchased four (Class 59/1) and National Power purchased six (Class 59/2) locomotives. Foster Yeoman and ARC merged their rail concerns into Mendip Rail, and the rail interests of National Power were taken over by EWS, now DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd.
Ultimately EMD's diligence and flexibility in designing and constructing such a small order paid off in opening the way for the later, much larger, Class 66 order. This design shares a common body shell but is internally different. The only livery shared between the classes is EWS red and gold, but whereas the 66s have a zigzag gold stripe, the 59s' stripe is straight."

My sympathy, I've lost months of work on my Scottish route and will probably never bother with making routes again. Some of my last screenshots and of the least detailed parts finished: -

I wondered how long it would take before someone called that one out!

Slightly OT, but I'd only seen one 59 back in the mid 80s (not long after they were introduced) until a few months ago when I was out running and 59005 came 'yinging' over a nearby bridge.

At the time I wasn't "on the scene" but I got curious (the arrival of Tornado was probably a catalyst too) and before I knew it I'd picked up my camera again and had a go at routebuilding... :hehe:
