UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

There is no need to straighten a piece of track attached to a straightened track if there is a change of direction. Colhad must have put two attached straightened tracks, either side of the middle point. Scenery points represent a large amount of fail. There is no need for any gauge to do this and Colhad did an excellent job, it looks very good now.

I meant around tricky areas such as ladder yards it helps to use scenery points and straighteners to stop distortion instead of straightening and using default turnoffs

The way I do it.

Where a winding track changes from right to left or left to right, I use a short length of double track usually shorter than shown, but longer here for clarity.

Short lengths laid. There is a branch off to the left.

Join up the main line

Add a spline point to the middle of where the branch departs from the main line and join the branch

C-2.jpg

Delete one section of the double track

D-1.jpg

Add the single track replacement, which immediately distorts

Use the straighten track tool

Repeat for the other section

Replace all the other sections

I've left out crossovers, but they are treated just the same. Do a 'save' each time you get a bit correct and then if you have to do an 'undo' and things go pear shaped (which they do at times) you can restart the program.

good explanation, exactly what I do :)

It didn't sound like it, but fair enough :)

...Cootes Lane Yard, a few hundred kilometres away from the Ringwood Close yard by the River Waller, is feeling the summer storms too

No

Sorry, I am building it in TRS2009. I don't think it's possible to convert back to earlier Trainz versions.

No, it isn't, you're stuck with it. One of the several reasons why I stay with 2004... but each their own, we all have freedom of choice.

A re-enactment (sort of) of a working that ran the other day.

Good shot 46035, just wondering which track is that and would it be compatible with TRS2004? :)

There's a thread somewhere where I directed people to the site where you can download the track and also explained how to download it from said site. If you search through my postings, you should find it.

And yes it's compatible with TRS2004, as I still use that!
