UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

I've been operating Dave's layout over the weekend & the detailing is superb however, the station which is the most populated section only gives me around 7-9 FPS with 1 consist operating, (measured with FRAPS)

My system.......... P4 2.93 Ghz, Nvidia 7600GS, reduced RAM of 512Meg ( I need a new Motherboard) Running top resolution.

hence why I'm scenery reducing, I have a rubbish computer, I just want to play trains! shots are an added bonus

anyway, I heard a coal train was coming, so I rushed down to the local station to phot it, when I got there, it was coming around the corner, led by 26014, with 41 HAA hopper wagons, fully loaded

the total weight of the coal train was 1879 tons, and I got 2.5 fps here!!!

After the train had sped through, I got 8 fps

Shame about the 26 options menu!!

After the 26 had gone, a typical branch line scene was created, with 44277 and GER 87 awaiting departure with empty coal and mixed freight respectively

branchscene.jpg

the rain cleared just long enough for me to take this final shot, 87 will leave once the 26 had cleared the signals, 44277 will follow after the next stopping passenger (which was due in about 45 minutes)

Exactly 35 minutes after it shot past me, I was able to photo it again at my next location, as it was held at a signal (obscured by the tree)

A couple from me featuring the "bin liner" trains. On this occasion hauled by BR Blue Split headcode Class 37003

Route is the Branthorpe & Kilderdale railway by Lielestosbrat (Rob) with new trees & foliage added.

Thanks Tom

My steam driven PC is an Athlon 2.08 with 1GB RAM with an Asrok 333MHz graphics card. Not really cutting edge

I got between 5 and 11 frames here

23 to 28 here

Screen_099.jpg

but only 1 to 3 here!

I have my own theories about framerates. I think the amount of downloads in the Downloads folder has an influence. I also think the amount of routes kept in Maps makes a difference.

In Surveyor I got 18 here

Screen_118.jpg

but when I changed from ALL/ALL to 4Toolz in Objects – Add object, it changed to 35

Screen_119.jpg

Out away from a 'busy' area where there is only track and mixed texture I still only got 38 and the reason for all the low numbers is other things running in the background like Google and Virus Updaters. Looking in Windows Task Manager shows several other things running that I'm not familiar with and don't know which to turn off.

Dave: Just look at what type they are (system or user) and for instance things like googleupdater which is under user and KHost also under user can be deleted. If It sounds like something you have downloaded and you don't need it running close it. Even MSN messenger not signed in slows everything down.
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO CLOSE DON'T.

ALSO DO NOT GET EXPLORER MIXED UP WITH IEXPLORE

Sorry For not posting a picture I'll come back and post soon

IExplore is when you have an Internet Explorer page open. CLOSE WHEN NOT NEEDED.

Explorer is the heart of the desktop, it controls the start bar, windows etc. DO NOT CLOSE UNLESS NEEDED TO ! (rarely)

Gangsta.

BTW escafeld thx for the offer of the route but you may remember the other one you sent me was TRS2004 and I am on TRS2006 and SP1? OH, and my PC is a Packard Bell 6810 with 2Gb RAM , 600Gb RAID hard drive and 512 Mb Nvidia SLI graphics.

Thanks, ex-railwayman. The route is my version of the line from Liskeard to Looe and it's a WIP at the moment, although it is nearing completion and I hope to upload it to the dls when it's finished.

Cheers

R3

Thanks R3, I thought it looked very Cornish......:hehe:

I am using TRS2004, so I live in hope that I can play on it one day...
