You've done really well with this.I recognised it straight away. The building you have used for the College in North Hanover street was a good choice.....I see the Buchanan Galleries towards the top left and the tall building behind it (now a premier inns).I think there must be a building that looks more like the millennium hotel somewhere.I also think there may be a few that would resemble the City Chambers......take a look at the building titled Reichstag Berlin......just a suggestion......well done with it...good work.
Thanks for the comments Hotgrove and also the tip about the city chambers. I got the Buchanan Galleries from Google Earth and converted in in Sketchup with RubyTMIX so chances are other buildings I need will be on GE as well and I need to find something resembling the Walter Scott column. The trickiest part was covering the tunnel completely and getting the ground even around the base of the Galleries without burying John Lewis's entrance on Killermont street (which has made the hill a bit steeper than I intended but perhaps ironically closer to what it actually is) - burying the low level platforms was easier!
This is a section I'm working on that includes both Central and Queen Street (approx true to scale from Queen Street high level tunnel to the M74 extension) that I can incorporate into other routes that use one or both of these stations.
You're welcome Iain.Since you are detailing the square and surrounding area will this be a present day first bus route ? Here is the building I suggested for the City Chambers (might not fit the dimensions you are working to and maybe looks more like the Mitchell Library) and another option for Glasgow College on North Hanover Street...bulding005)........i'm interested in this project.
nice shots all. on the subject of queen street here is one of my shots of it, i havnt be on here in months gone totally of trainz and trains in genral and been to busy on my new xbox stuff and out with my mates but it is looking good the shots here already, iv been doing my mine for about 3 years on off now but cant see me ever finishing it as i cant be bothered for trainz but i must say it is looking good keep up the good work
LOL, Thanks - will post some shots of the branch later - hope to upload the layout later in the week - a 60 board mainline and branch lines with a UK theme.
A Class 313 at Aldwych Station in the rain. I'm glad I've got this station out of the way, due to the track being on a gradient and the station being placed on an elevated viaduct, the station was a lot harder to create then normal. Even the canopies had to be custom made.
It really does make me smile when someone praises my screenshots. For the building, try searching "Generating Hall" on the DLS. It might come up, but then it might not, I'm not really sure. That shot was taken on philskene's IntenCity route, it is truly a must have. As for the loco, it is in fact not a Prairie, but a 72xx 2-8-2T. Just search "GWR 72xx". Thanks!
