Great shots everyone! :D
WEN that model is excellent.

Was getting shots for my Laira Depot assets, so decided to take this one:

I wont lie, I'm pretty chuffed to see my 66 being used in peoples screenshots.
hope people are enjoying it.

i know it's been ages since my last post, family matters.
but an update i know a few of you were after some of my reskins.

after trying to contact the author of the resized hsts and coaches, but as it was free ware I'm daring to post them up anyway. if the original author or auran have a problem with them they can take them down easily enough.

just so you know they are;

ichstlinc.jpg

The reasonably weathered Intercity hst (and coaches) cruising the farm gates near skew bridge, Lincoln (i wish)
P.S. im not a stifler when it comes to coaches, there's only three, they're numbered wrong and I think they're even named wrong.

and a early morning virgin hst heads north along the coast
virginsunst.jpg

But sadly railwaves never got back to me, nor did the original author of the class 56's and as its payware I'm not risking distributing it in any sense, sadly, its a one of for myself. to sit, lonely, in an abandoned railyard.
abandon56.jpg

however like i said ill take on a pet project or two, i quite like weathering, as you can tell. requests welcome.
the HST and coaches are pending atm, shouldn't be a problem with them going through, so search my name within a few days to get them.

fantastic screenshots all around. ill be looking back at the ones I've missed.
keep them coming, and apologies for the wall of text. ciao.

@ intercityboy - Even if it is freeware and you can't contact the original authors, I don't believe you should be uploading them without permission unless the config states specifically that you can. I think the only exception to that is a built-in Auran asset (though I could be wrong).

It's a debate that's been done to death in more suitable threads. I'm sure I recall a well known content creator making this point, on seeing one of his assets reskinned, on this very thread not so long ago.

That is I think the auran HST, which as you say, doesn't have much in the way of restrictions, if I recall correctly, the best person to ask is Nexus.

It's the version that was produced for the East coast route in 2010 by Rob (I think) and if I remember correctly TMZ had to gain permission before his GNER and Cross country versions where uploaded to the DLS .

Built-in doesn't give cart blanche to reskin content , permission still needs to be obtained unless the license agreement states that it's okay to be reskinned . No license agreement still means that permission needs to be obtained .

A lot of built in content was produced outside of the Auran sphere and still falls under their respective original license agreements.

apologies for covering old ground and I'm not on a rant (for a change) but it's a slippery slope if it's not nipped in the bud at the start .

Excellent shots all, I do love Dave's Catenary.

@nexus - Yes, it's been discussed to death on numerous threads. I put the soapbox in the fire.

My DMU spotting skills aren't too hot. Is that a 107 in your shot? Even if it's not, is it the DMU that was in the Railwaves Somerset pack or something available elsewhere?

Cheers.

Spot on Dave, I'd just like to confirm your post.

I have asked on two occasions for permission on behalf of third parties but I've had no answer.

I've always intended to revamp the built in HST mesh, hopefully if I can get other projects finished that should happen next year, maybe that would be a good time to review the other reskins that are appearing as they are of high quality.

It's a class 117 (could also get away with it as a class 118, as well).

Thank you for the clarification, sometimes, the content included in Trainz can come from unknown authors so it can be hard to determine who is the orignal owner, unless you know what to look for, obviously.

Whatever you do, don't stare for too long, I know the drool mops are probably desperately needed, but texturing it is going to be a right pain in the arse......

...but I wouldn't have it any other way, I seem to be admiring it more when I built it than actually doing something. I did have some mad ideas I thought about at work, with this unit, like talking to uni to see if one unit could incorperate some simulation development (uni students are good at that.... yeah right!), exporting it as a VRML and start a virtual tour, fire up Unity and make my own sim so you can all play with it on my site and export it into railworks. Before I do that, theres lots of work to do, one of which is to replace those blown bulbs behind the drivers cab! And yes, I know about the smoothing problem on the rear set of passenger doors, there's more errors to correct, but thankfully, because its built in 2 halves and cloned, whatever is on one half is automatically updated to the other half.

It's a class 117 (could also get away with it as a class 118, as well).

It's actually the inclusion of a TSL in the set to make it 3 car that has confused me. I searched for 117 and only found DMS and DMSB. Nexus' shot looks like he may well have been doing a bit of tasty reskinning.

Kuid:283805:60022 .

Some Toton content is available on the DLS , Do a search for username "garygreen".

Remember to tick the "2004 "2006" "Trainz classics 1&2" "Trainz classics 3" "2009" Trainz versions boxes in the Download station searches box before doing the searches .

Welcome to the enjoyable but sometimes frustrating world of Trainz.

First place to try if you haven't done so already, is the Download Station ((DLS). There's a link for it above. You can also search for content using Content Manager Plus (CMP) which you open from the content option when you start Trainz. I don't mean to sound patronising, I'm making an assumption that you may not know these things if you are new to Trainz.

You are very likely to find most of the items you require as there are literally thousands of assets to search. Reskinning is a route open to you if you can't find what you want and is fairly easy to learn using free image manipulation software if you don't already have it.

Here are a few suggestions to search for on the DLS.

MkII
Mk 2
Class xx (enter the type you want - this also covers Sprinters (150s etc)).

Another way to search is by using the author's name. A few to try are

marky7890
peterdhicks
tmz06003
nexusdj

You'll get the hang of it quickly enough but you know where to come for help. Best place to post a request for stock is probably the General thread as more people will be looking there. There's also a search function above that will allow you to look for relevant threads (such as how to reskin).

Hope that's enough to get you started.

Cheers,
pfx
