UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

I'm referring to the original 47701-12 fitted with jumper cables on the cabs for working the Edinburgh-Glasgow push/pull service from 1980, we now have the DBSO by Peter D Hicks, this 47 variant would complement that nicely.

As 47701-10 were converted and wore standard blue livery for many years, these would fit well with R3's blue 47.

Great work Rumour3 .

The original 47/7's were fitted with Time division multiplex (TDM) for push pull working (unsure but lead to believe not compatible with later AC TDM) .

Later class 47/7 (RES) were only fitted with the RES advisory control system which is not a true multiple working system.

47/9 fitted with blue star to be compatible with the various Research vehicles fitted with a cab .

Then there was the sub classes fitted with green dot multiple working and also the DRS loco's fitted with there own unique multiple working equipment.

:)

Not under BR or EWS. I'm a bit lost as to what's fitted with what in the 47 fleet now, but I do know the only 47s fitted with Blue Star were a couple of the RTC 47/9s under BR - 975 and 976 spring to mind.

Carmen according to The Railway Centre the only locos to be fitted with Blue* is 47971-976 And the Green Circle fitted sub classes are 47/2 and then 47701-717 and 47721-793 were fitted with TDM. The rest of the fleet was not fitted with MW equipment. HTH :)

P.S. Sorry if they aren't prototypical, I've never been overseas :p

Excellent shots Lesley

@WEN Both systems are similar in that the information to control the train is sent along the RCH (railway clearing house) cables form the controlling cab to the loco . That's were the similarity ends.

The original 47/7 are fitted with a true push pull system in that the driver in the DBSO has full control over the loco that is pushing the train IE: brake's power and direction.

Where as the later batch of 47/7 were fitted with the RES Propelling advisory control system . This works by having a indicator panel fitted in the cab of the 47 (at eye level to the left of the driver on the windscreen corner pillar) . You then have 2 (TWO) drivers , one in the cab of the PCV (propelling control vehicle) and another at the rear of the train in the 47 (also 67 and 90).
Both drivers then activate the system . The front driver ONLY has control over the brake . He has a power controller and a reverser BUT when he operates these it sends a signal along the RCH cables to the 47 at the rear . The system then converts these into power demands which are indicated on the Propelling advisory control system indicator panel as different coloured bars . as more power is required then more will light up , less power and the bars start to extinguish . The 47 driver then applies power as demanded.

Here's the panel in a class 67 http://rpm-railpics.fotopic.net/p49788804.html

Easiest way to remember it is ; DBSO = DRIVING brake standard open
PCV = PROPELLING control van
Driving to be in control , propelling to be pushed.

Glad you like the route Lesley. One of your screens has let me notice the platform height at one of the stations needs to come down a touch, thanks :)

It's taking a while for my CMP to find the dependancies! - maybe it has something to do with that broken undersea internet cable. I'll wait for a while then try again - I'm sure its a great route, looking at the screenies :D

Fabulous screenshots lesley, you really show off Commie's wonderful creation to the fullest.

Just a few from eso's wonderful electrified UK layout Cross Country Mainline.

Ex-.

Thanks for the tip. Definitely one imaging site I won't be using. Not the type of imaging we want our younger members to be open to.

Thanks Gam, but, I've been using photobucket for over a year and am not impressed, my screenshots disappear whenever I've posted them on here, so they're no better than anyone else really.....Imageshack have lost some of my screenies I took the other night and it takes hours to log-on to their site at the weekend.....I tried a German and Polish web hosting sites, but they are full of adverts as well, and the language barrier is no help either, there really isn't a decent site in the world to my satisfaction......:'(

Can't understand why anyone has problems with Photobucket. I've been a member since 28/July/2005 and have 1238 images on there. I've never had trouble using the site whatsoever.
