U.S. Military/Army Suggestions?

Not a real user title.
I need to find some US army/military related commodities and rollingstock that are close to, or are authentic. They also need to be on the DLS so I can use them in a multiplayer route. Any suggestions?

the only army vehicles I have come across so far is in T12 in the Army Operations session on the Debrecen-Nyiregyhaza route.
The T72 heavy tank and a few other vehicles.

There is a US Army Corps Engineers MP15 by BTVFD, on the DLS ... By changing the Trainzbuild to 2.6 (and deleting assts.tdx & assets.bku, and restarting CMP ... I let the TAD rebuild ... and I got it backdated, and working in TRS2006).

There are many Arraiel assets that are static assets, that can be changed into a commodity for loading onto flatcars.

I will look up more Millitary assets and post (right here) ... when I find them.

I found several Fatcars with Tanks and Personell carriers on various sites.

I have seen many many assets that are ready to run ... and by altering an assets config file, you can change them into a commodiy, or convert them into a drivable asset (using Cyberstorms-"Drivable Superadaptor".

I have had much fun backdating 12, 10, 09 assets to work in TRS2006, and likewise altering config files have gotten 09, 10, 12 static assests to load & drive in TRS2006.

Working in Araial's Saturn V rocket to make it a drivable asset ... Bang, Zoom ...Right to the Moon, Alice !

Altering Trainz config files are a blast !

Yeah, but they need to go in a multiplayer route, which means no editing and no third-party sites.

Question is whether I am going to learn first how to use the relevant tools and utilities first before diving in again otherwise I am going to end up again driving locomotives without bogies etc :).

By simply filtering on "army" in Content Manager, I found 220 assets.
I am sure if you do the same filter in Surveyor, you can then test which still work in TS12. Take it from there.

By narrowing it down "minimum build = 2.7" and "category = train vehicle" I still had 13 assets left, but Im sure a lot of the pre-2.7 assets will also work.

Be creative in your search words; you know the US army, you know what to look for.

That would be a trick indeed, as altering a config file and making a statiic asset into a loadable commodity is possible, but a commodity can not drive, unless you alter its config file to make it into a loco.

BNSF50 invisatrack, you could simulate the loading (a slight of hand magic).

I would be more than happy via PM to relate how to backdate higher version assets into TRS2006 ... and to let you know how to turn ANY asset into a drivable loco, or a loadable commodity, or a trackside asset ... or versa visa (vice versa).

Firstly I want to say that I did not have the faintest about BNSF50 till I googled it. Very interesting thanks and a good chuckle I had too about the stuff you guys were talking about , but now I am even more curious to know : the lady you are referring to in that thread about the backup truck , has she read it ??!!! :D

I really want to know more about backdating and making assets do things so I will take up your offer thanks . I had to re-install TR2006 to get it working again after DL and trying to backdate NG stuff . Obviously you have more than enough patience ( I hope ) :p

I have heaps of WWII items created in the past, all on the DLS, mainly for TRS04 but some have been converted to TC1/2 or are for later versions of TS. Like US army jeeps, single and plain or with .50 cal machine gun or a recoil less canon mounted, various Blitz trucks and ambulances, German King and Jagdt Tigers, Panthers, Jagdt Panthers, Sonder Kraft Fahrzeuge with Vierling Flak mounted or being used as trucks etc.

Most of these need to be turned 90 degrees when looking from the top as I implemented a roll command in these vehicles so they can be placed on an incline. This roll command needed the mesh placed that way it is there currently. By turning the mesh 90 degrees via an attachment point (PEV's attachment tool), which one would need anyway for a commodity/load, the vehicle can be placed on flattops etc. for loading and transporting as commodity (need extra configuration to work) as other people have done this with some of my creations.

Just one of many suggestions.
