Turning sound off on trainz

Several ways:

1) unplug your speakers

2) mute the speakers using the little sound icon over near your clock on the notification bar

3) some keyboards have a Mute and/or volume +/- buttons

I talk on skype to family in america and cant hear them over the trainz sound so this why am asking thank you.

I understand now. You just want to cut Trainz off, not the rest of the sounds - especially Skype. I am not sure if there is a way to do that. If there is an option in trainzoptions.txt I don't know what it would be.

Interesting question. I don't know of any method like other programs have. Actually, Trainz' volume tends to be pretty loud. I'm surprise more programs don't have better audio management controls.

I just did an experiment. If you are running Vista or Windows 7, then you CAN kill just the sound from Trainz. This is how to do it:

When Trainz starts, hit the "Windows" key and let Trainz minimize to the taskbar. Go over to the little volume icon in the notification area and click it. The small dialog box with the volume comtrol on it has a little blue link at the bottom for "Mixer". Click that.

The dialog box that opens lists all the applications that are using the sound card - one of them will be Trainz. Click the little speaker below the volume bar and JUST THAT program will be muted.

Have fun.

My pleasure. Happy Trainzing.

@RRSignal:
There is also an individual volume control for just Trainz on that mixer panel. Give that a try to lower just the sound from TRS.

Great tip

Great tip, Bill! You just made my day!
Thanks,

Find the asset(s) that are emitting the sound and remove the reference to the wave file in the config. I had the same problem with some of the silos and scrap processing assets, after removing the references to the wave (.wav) files, all's quiet on the Western Front.
