Turning a train on a Wye

Trainz Junkie
trainz 2010. Trying to program a train to turn around on a wye. Using trackmarks , Instruct train to go to 1st trackmark beyond left leg, then go to trackmark beyond right leg, then go to industry along bottom leg. Train gets to first track mark, but backs down the left leg to go to 2nd trackmark, then backs to industry...fail. Tried navigate to, navigate via, but just can't get it to work. Can it be done?

Place a directional marker on the left leg pointing out towards the end of the leg at the far end (not the one by the bottom leg). This may work.

On the Darjeeling Himalayan railway route we have several zig-zags or 'Zeds'. The AI will work the loco and two passenger cars through these without a hitch. There are no trackmarks of any kind.

A Wye is much like a deformed Z so try and see what happens without any assistence.

@ Peter: on a zig-zag there is only one way to get from the 'bottom' to the 'top' (insert appropriate end labels) so the AI has no problems driving in > backing out > driving in etc., so a simple "Navigate to (Far End)" will be bombproof. On a 'Wye' there are two possible ways to get around, which will be what's causing the problem.

@ OP: If the wye is one-way, use Ed's answer. If you want the AI to be able to traverse all three legs of the wye in both directions place an additional track mark half way along all three legs and use 'Navigate via' to keep the train where you want it.

Dermy, quite true but would it be possible to use Drive Via on each of the legs. Just noticed, you said much the same

Assuming that the Wye ended on a different track so it had one entry and a separate exit, would the AI navigate that? If so then stopping it entering the out bound leg should have the same effect. I'm only guessing here.

Euphod, thanks that was the right answer. It worked like a charm. But then I had a duh moment right after that. There is a portal just a half mile further north. I could use that to turn trains as well. Thanks everyone for your help

Its funny how sometimes the AI will work like a charm then thex session The AI will have BRAIN FARTS every time you turn around...Like couple to XXXX car the Ai will drive past the Car ten times if not more before it says Oh ya I have to couple to that car ...Then the next time you play the AI couples right up on the first shot....Same thing happens when I use a Y...Sometimes the AI will behave and sometimes it won't...lol
