Turbotrain/Turboliner

I recently found and downloaded the Amtrak TurboTrain from the DLS. However, it's not what I thought it would be. I was hoping for the real Amtrak TurboTrain/TurboLiner built by Rohr and used on the line between NYC and Albany/Buffalo. The one I got is cool, but not the real train. Also when I tried to run it on UMR-2011-Megamerge I heard a really loud chick-chick-chick noise (however, the train still ran). Is this a problem with the TurboTrain or the UMR? I don't know because that was my first run on the UMR. You cannot hear the noise in surveyor. However, my main concern is finding the real Turbo Train. If it's not available, I might (big might) try my hand at content creating.

yeah the one you downloaded was the turbo train built by MLW for CN and then amtrack tested it but I am not shure what happened to that one, but the turbo train and turboliner aren't the same thing.

Amtrak has actually had 3 different Turbos in the Past:
The UA Turbos (2 paint schemes):

The ANF Turbos:

The Rohr Turbos (3 paint schemes, still technically in active service*):

*The Rohr Tubos have been involved in a disagreement between NY State & Amtrak and so are stuck in limbo, they are still technically in service however cannot actually be used in service. They've been sitting on sidings in Bear & at the old Super Steel Plant now for years.

I actually took a trip in the one that went from Toronto to Montreal back in the seventies. I remember being at the dome just behind the cab, and you could see the two engineers controlling the big speed handle out of an old science fiction movie. Speed? not great, but just being over a turbine made for an unforgetable experience. The other train, I think was made in France, and I am not sure if it was successful in North America, but in France it was not so much due to excessive fuel comsumption.

I road on the blue and silver version of the Amtrak Turbo Train back in 1976 on a trip between Boston Back Bay Station and Penn Station. It was quite an experience even if I didn't get to ride in the dome which on that train was closed off for some reason. Besides riding on a really cool train, I also saw a lot of vintage equipment too on the old New Haven and a lot of stuff still in the New Haven colors back then too even though Conrail was just born, Amtrak was a baby, and Penn Central had been running the New Haven since 1968.

The New York governor has put the Rohr Turboliners up for sale. They are in bad condition and are being sold for scrap. The unused parts are also for sale. The reason - the state is paying storage fees and other charges on unused equipment.

Actually come to think of it; I believe there is a french train available somewhere that looks very similar to the ANF Turbo (I think it's the electric version of it); which could be edited to seem like the ANF Turbo.

A big 12 year bump I know but still on topic and relevant to the OP. I don't know if OP is still even here but if you are then you'll be pleased to know that I took it upon myself to model some Rohr Turboliners and upload them to the Download Station. I chose to model the failed early 2000s RTL III refurbishment with the Acela-esque livery. Don't like and want the original RTL? Well I'm pleased to announce my RTL III models are open source and released under a free licence for anyone to reskin and modify to their heart's content. The source files are up on my personal website.
