Tunnel Suggestions

Well I cannot seem to find what I'm looking for so I'm wondering if someone out there knows if it exsists...

I'm looking for a North American styled single-track tunnel with a concrete portal. I can't even find one that looks decent enough! They all seem to have huge portals that extend several meters to each side of the track. I'm modeling a mountain gorge, and the terrain will not allow those huge "wings" on either side.

How do I place my own matching tracks inside the tunnel? During my experimentations, some tunnels seem to come with tracks inside, but they are very dated and look horrible - how do I replace them?

So can somebody suggest a tunnel with a narrow concrete portal which I can replace the track inside?

Cheers!

here are two tunnels...they dont work like tunnel track, and dont ''snap'' to grid lines, they are actually designed more like bridge assets, and require you to use an asset called "hole punch"... which places a hole in the terrain for the tunnnel to go through....... besides the slight difficulty of placing this tunnel,..it looks and works very well.....i use them all the time, and i have gotten quite fast at placing them.

To change tracks, I open the tunnel in CCP and change the track to the desired one. Mabry tunnel is a narrow (not NG) one that I like, single track only. There is also an asset on the DLS called tunnel gloom that is great. It is a spline and you may have to adjust the height.

Like this?

Niart,

Your link does not work. It just goes to the home page of Rail Serve. Can you post a different link to the two tunnels?

Thanks!

BNSF,

That is exactly what I'm looking for. Will it work in 04 and where is it available?

Thanks!
Yes it will work in all versions, as long as I set it up for 04. I made this one myself for a route I'm working on, but I haven't uploaded it yet. I'm on vacation in Texas at the moment, but since it's wanted I'll upload it as soon as I get home next month.

Thanks BNSF50, that's a nice tunnel entrance, and very kind of you to plan to upload it!:)

So far US Stone Tunnel & Tunnel3_1 voie are my favorites. Some tunnels, and other assets like Concrete_Bank_Spline can be re-painted or re-skinned in Irfanview, MS Paint, Gimp...etc... with your own textures or colors using cut & paste to paste a photo of your choice onto the asset face.

I have found that I can totally replace a file from Tunnel 4_1 voie and put that file in the Tunnel 3_1 voie file, totally changing the tunnel portal looks, to suit my open needs.

By editing the tunnel config file to height -1 it will dissable the "snap to grid", making it a completly straight tunnel at any angle, but also the dighole is disabled (requiring your own placement of a 1x1 dighole).

I personally like the two "California" tunnel portals on VMD the best... thanks! But is there a way to have a portal with smaller wings on the sides? I have a mountain river gorge with the track going through it. Basically the mountain comes down, goes level for the ROW, and then plunges down into the gorge and the river. These portal wings are too wide and will stick out of the terrain on the river side of the track... Any thoughts?
