Tsunami sweeps away train!

The Japanese Coast guard are reporting that one of the high speed bullet trains that travels along the coast of Sendai, has been swept away by the 33 foot wave which struck the coast earlier today. The exact numbers of passengers of the train have not been released as yet, and while surviors are hoped for; they are sadly not expected, given the severity of the wall of water and the nature of the derailment.

Very upsetting ... It makes you wonder ... as we mortals are residing in a globe, with a 5 mile thin crust, that still has a molten center, after millions of years, a fusion core furnace of lava can erupt at anytime.

Alaska has 23 volcanos, and the Cascades have dozens. The Yellowstone National Park is a cauldron of geothermal activity, that could erupt at any moment, and if it did, (as it is predicted to blow a 20+ mile crater), life in the US would be completly devistated, as well as causing worldwide cataclisium.

What would happen if a worldwide series of 9.8 earthquakes erupted, all at one time, causing worldwide tsunamis and tremmors ?

* People without FCT's will still be complaining about the DLS.

** People will still be complaining about N3V.

*** People will still be predicting the future of Trainz.

It's all really sad.

Have fun,

What the hell, how is that odd? It isn't hard to understand.

Well, it is not of the following causes for normal derailments.

Human error.
Poor care of the track.

Not every day you see a train knocked down by water. And HSR derailments are rare.

Looks like you do not understand the following words:

............. Swept Away by a tsunami............

This is very sad news.

Japan is located on the Pacific Rim, or ring of fire, where there are many active volcanos. In fact Japan is one of the most active volcanic regions in the world where the crust turnover is happening all the time. The area is known as a subduction zone where the crust is being pulled under and pushing upwards as it dives back down into the mantle. Periodically, the crust will stick, causing an earthquake in the region.

A quake this big was probably caused by a big shift in the earth's crust, causing the tsunami and quake of this magnitude. Now I'm wondering where the next quake will happen.

The quake was 8.9 on the Richter scale. There's already been a handful of aftershocks in the 6.6 range.

It is difficult to view the horrific enents taking place.

News nets are talking about 1 town that has over 9,500 people missing. Many towns in the area still have not been reached by rescue teams.

The one nuclear plant had an explosion this morning, but the Japanese officials say everything is OK. But they are expanding the evacuation zone due to the release of ?some? cesium from that plant. Hopefully no further radiation will be released and that the plant does not go into meltdown.

With aftershocks still happening, many fear that the situation will worsen.

We can only continue to pray of the people of Japan.

Respectfully,

Good news

Hi guys some good news,
One of these trains was recovered and everyone on board survived. think Japanese people need bossts like these in times of terror

That video from above shows exactly how sturdy railcars are as compared to airplanes. One thing that I think is missing from this thread is which trains are actually missing: the souuuper high speed standard gauge Shinkansen, or the slower, smaller 42" gauge trains?

Thoughts and prayers

One BLEEP of a way to start your weekend. And I'm pretty sure 2 towns were missing, not just one.
