TS2010 Controlling the Density/Transparency of Texturing?

Is there anyway of controlling the Density/Transparency of texture patterns?

With my (possibly ham-fisted fingers) whenever I try to blend two or more textures, the second covers-up the first; the third covers the second, etc.

What I would like to do is blend/mix multiple textures in order to create something more realistic to my eye.

When I look at other routes, it seems like the developer has been able to blend textures.

To be a little clearer about my initial question: assume you have two aerosol cans of paints - say brown and green - and you hold each several feet above the surface to you were applying the paint: if you make a quick pass with the the brown and then one with the green, the result on the surface would be a mixture of the two colors.

I'd like to do this with the TS2010 texturing...like "apply, but sparingly to the ground".

Each intersection of the yellow grid lines holds a single texture, which is blended with the textures around it. You can blend neighbouring textures, but the blend will only be one grid square in size. Try painting along a yellow grid line with one texture, and the neighbouring line with another - that's the blend you can achieve.

There is a slight lag in the texturing process so quick dabs on the mouse button will give you a translucent effect. Good finger exercise.

Actually, knight42 is not quite correct, each vertex point holds information for up to 5 textures which does allow mixing or blending of colours. You can see this mixing effect at the transition between adjacent textures

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I knew it mixed them but I didn't realise that was how.
