TS2009 PDF Manual

I purchased the digital download version of TS2009 WBE, and the PDF manual is for TS2006. Has nothing changed that the 2006 manual is still considered adequate?

bbosnjak, Welcome to the Trainz Forums. Part of the forum experience is to read other posts, especially those that answer your questions or concerns.

The TRS 2009 manual (or lack thereof) has been discussed quite a bit in the past couple of days. Rather than me type a lengthy reply, could you please do a search for manual or "2009 manual"?

The short answer is that manuals take an enormous amount of time and money to produce. As the TRS2006 manual is adequate along with the 32 page update, why re-write it? The long answer is.....available via search!

Edit: While I had nothing to do I looked up the best thread for you:

Just read Tony Hilliam's comments.

Thanks - the sticky posts at the top of the forum threw me off, making me think TS2009 had just launched and I didn't realize the posts already go back a ways.

Given it's a PDF manual, and someone has the original source, it would have been trivial to do a search & replace of "2006" with "2009" and resave the file as TRS2009_Manual.pdf and probably noone would have been the wiser - and you probably wouldn't have gotten all these queries ;) A shameless trick to be sure, but it *is* the 2006 manual after all... :)

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

No worries. Yes, I agree that some of those stickies should go.

There are two problems with the manual in its current form:

1. it has a coloured background that eats up too much ink should you decide to print it.

2. If you do print it, the manual is not paginated correctly. I think it can only be printed single sided at best.

To overcome this, I've completely repaginated the TRS2006 manual without the background so that it can be printed double sided on A5 paper which is readily available in Australia and Europe, or Octavo which some people living in the dark ages still cling to. It's actually a work in progress with over half the manual completed. I may finish it by the new year but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't dare change any text or try to insert the 2009 update, so I guess you will have to do that yourself. I'm actually doing the manual for my own use, but I'll seek permission from Auran to make it available when it's ready. It will then be available on my new site when it opens in the new year.

Regards.
