Fellow trainzers ,

I find it necessary to upgrade my driver for TS2009 .

Does any one know how GeForce 7300GT works with the TS2009 Beta .
I have a 6200 installed and it stutters , I have the opportunity to purchase the above driver at a very resonable price , but would like to know if it will enhance the performance of TS2009 .

Thanks for any thoughts --- ,DLR

Hi Deeelare

I run a 7300GT with 09 works for me on P4 3 gig and P4 2.6 gig both have 7300GT definate inprovement over 06

Never had a 6200 so can't tell ya how much better

Cheers

I use a 7300GT 512mb on my main PC, and it runs the TRS2009 beta fine for me.

Definitely seems to run TRS2009 a bit faster than it ran TRS2004.
Whether or not that's the case when the full version is released is another thing, but it's got to be worth the upgrade anyway surely.

Check whether your system board and this video board have the same interface. There are two types, AGP and PCI-E and they are not compatible. Also check your power supply and case ventilation can cope with the demands of a more powerful board.

A higher performance video board might be worth considering. The 7300GT ranks as tier 13 on Tom's Hardware Guide's list and a 7600GT as tier 10 (boards with lower tier numbers have more powerful graphics processors) and might not be more expensive these days. For the most challenging layouts an even more powerful board is needed but then we're talking expensive.

Latest Video Card Benchmarks (Q3).........

John259 above has given you some good advice. Here's a couple of links that you may also find helpful as they are a little bit more up to date & they include the latest top end Video Cards as well.
(BENCHMARKS)... Gaming Graphics Charts Q3/2008... (The video card you are considering getting is 94'th down the list, out of a listing of 100 cards). I'm sure for a couple of extra $'s, you can get a much better card that is a lot further up the list. (of 100 cards). I suggest you shop around and compare...

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/benchmarks,30.html
(Scroll down to; Sum of FPS Benchmarks ............) or

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/chart...q3-2008/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-Totals,795.html (Sum of FPS Benchmarks Totals).
(Now this lot of benchmarks truly compares overall performance/FPS across a number of games and gives benchmarks listings in order of "top to bottom performers" of 100 video cards)......
Generally speaking, the better your video card is, the better your 'frame rate' will be in TRS2009 and the more smoothly it will run. Other factors come into it as well. Replacing your existing card is a good start.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Mac...

I don't think anyone is in any doubt that there are many, many cards that are better than the 7300GT (it isn't exactly a new card obviously), but it's dirt cheap now, and being the GT variety, it gives a lot of bang for your buck.

I actually bought 3 of them for my PCs. :D

So if you're not looking to pay a couple of hundred for a decent upgrade, and you just want to upgrade from a 5 or 6 series, to a decent 7 series with all the GT extras, then there's no competition.

But get the 512mb version while you still can.

Thanks Guys for the quick and detailed replies .

I will install it , and cross my fingers .
As stated the price was very ' attractive ' !

Re Geforce 7300GT I have a problem with it running the Beta 09
each time i have tried to import some of my own content it says it has errors and it wont commit it,
I have this content working in 06 and TC3 with no problems or errors.
this ia a copy of what happens when I try to commit.
Error: Texture compression failed for file 'H:\Program Files\Auran\TS2009/local/hash-D2/tempfxdigrw513/byron2a-alpha.texture.txt'
Error: Failed to commit changes to asset <kuid2:67585:1503:2> due to file access error
I have tried the card set up as default = let the 3D application decide and I have tried to use the advanced settings but the results are the same.
In the CMP settings I have tried it with the enable hardware compression ticked and unticked the results were the basically the same only it was worse with the enable box ticked.
I am running it with XP and I have 3gig ram memory on my PC.
Does anyone have any suggestions
PS I have updated the card with the latest drivers even after updating the results are the same

Robin_Hoods.

Please visit the Dev forums and look for my threads on the subject.
It isn't the card that's causing the problem, and you're only the 3rd person that I know of that is suffering from it.

I've had this problem with all copies of TRS2009, and the problem lies with CMP (CM2 if you like), because I can commit everything using the command-line tool TrainzUtil.

Please visit the Dev forum, find the main thread by me concerning this, and post in it.
For 2 months I was the only one reporting this problem, and Auran seem to think it's not going to affect many people (I warned them about the TRS2006 CMP lockups as a lone voice too, and I'm getting a strange feeling of deja vu).

Smiley,

Hi I just tried to register there both in Firefox and Internet explorer and both times I get session expired or cookies not allowed after I have finished putting in my info and clicking on the register
I have checked both browsers and as far as I can see the cookies are allowed?

It's probably your firewall that's blocking your cookies.

Try lowering the privacy settings a little while you register.

I have now manged to get logged in and post .
I have even tried to download a TC3 item and try to install it but the results are the same I just cant get any item to commit without those notices coming up.
EDIT
Well unless there is going to be a fix for this problem I wont be purchasing TRS2009 any time soon

Yeah, it's annoying isn't it?

Especially when hardly anyone else seems to have the problem.
If the problem isn't fixed then the only alternative will be to commit assets via TrainzUtil.

Chris was hoping that it was an NVidia code problem, and that it would be fixed by NVidia's new code they just released, but then Dirk popped up and said that he was having the same problem, and that he had an ATI card.

Let's hope they find it.
Let's hope they're still looking for it.

Re the only alternative will be to commit assets via TrainzUtil.
How do you do this are there any instructions anywhere?

TrainzUtil is a command-line tool (the old Dos Box) which you can send commands to when you call it (open asset for editing, commit asset, etc).

I have to go and do something right now, but if you're still online in about an hour, I'll post a few instructions on how to test it.

You can probably find info on how to use it in the forums too.
